Question
AC/DC charger for NIMH packs

Can anyone recommend a good AC/DC (i.e., plug into a wall outlet) that will trickle & fast charge NIMH packs. Also, it must have peak detection -- I want all the bells & whistles.

Thanks!
Chris

My little Wattage PF-12 does all this for 4-24 cells at only $50.

I believe the PF-12 charges 4-12 cells, not 24.

I'm using the MRC Super Brain 959 which does all that for 1-8 cells, plus has a digital display. Seems to work fine. Costs less then $50.

You are right. I stand corrected.

Well, I just got into electrics and already have two 10-cell packs for a speed 480 plane.. not charging at least 10 cells strikes me as a negative.

If you want all the bells and whistles, get a Triton and a good 12 volt power supply. Best of both worlds.

You can't really get a 'full featured' charger that is both AC/DC right now. I have the superbrain, and while it is a good charger, I cannot slow charge packs because the lowest charge rate is 500ma. Plus it only does 8 cells.

If you never intend on getting into the bigger (AA+) packs the Wattage will do ok, but the 2 amp max charge rate will drive you crazy if you do. If you want all the bells and whistles then I would go with a power supply and a higher end DC unit.

Xoltri & Khen:

I think the 12V power supply will be the way I'm going to go.

Thanks!

If you haven't seen them yet, search for Pyramid on this forum they make great power supplies at very good prices. Or if you have a spare computer power supply they work well to.
