NY Sunday Flight report. Zero, friends Beaver(maiden flight) and my Beaver on Floats
I just flew at my Highschool with my Zero.
11:30am 1mph winds, 32 degrees sunny and nice white clouds.
My friend (liaudio) got his maiden flight with his Beaver, and he learned so quick. He was doing loops right away. My two other friends (av8trOC) also flew it and were excellent. Uh oh, I think I got more people hooked on flying.
I flew my Zero awesome today with two smooth belly landings.
Then later, we went to get lunch, I then got my Beaver with floats from home and headed to the local pond. When we got their I tested out the Beaver on dry land then took in into the water. Boy was it fun!!!!!
At the pond I met a guy from the local RC boat club (sailboats) and he was amazed by my Beaver flying and landing in water. He also had a float plane he said made of Balsa which weighed 20 OZ's. I made some new friends. He told me to come down on weekends to watch them boat and race and I could buzz them . lol
I got videos of everything and soon my friend will edit it and we will have videos posted online.

Les I had a great time today ...it's too bad I had to fly back to Orlando and I missed the afternoon water flights. Anyway, yes Im hooked and now Im going to begin putting my beaver together.
Wish me luck!

Yes they are the 19" floats I got from www.foamfloats.com .
I still need to apply the film of Superkote to make it more dent resistent, and slicker on the water. I plan on using white superkote to match the Beaver and that way I can also paint it.
I will post pictures of the water rudder setup as soon I complete it. I allready installed a wire for a steerable tailwheel I had so I can just bend it slightly and glue a guitar pick on the bottom.
Do you think a large guitar pick will be suffice?

I think the guitar pick is a great idea. Most water rudders are off the back of one of the floats and are pretty small.
This is my Dumas Beaver on her Foamfloats. No ROW's yet due to weather. Should've got out today, like you, but was occupied with other things.

Nice Beaver, I saw some of your pics when it was in the puddle in front of your house.
I would add rudders behind the rear of the floats but it seems to much work.
I had 1 mph winds today and great weather. You should have gone out for 15 mins.
