Combat Models A-10 Fans??
Hi, i just bought a CBM A-10 and i want to put 2 EDF's in it. i was wondering what fans/motors would work best? i plan on putting in retracts, flaps and i want ROG capability. Also how much do these fans/motor combos cost, where can i get them and what esc will i need? What kind of battery would be required? i've got a 10 cell 3000mah NiMH pack and a 8 cell 1700mah NiCAD pack, would i be abe to use either of those? For any of those who have it what kind of retracts are you using? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Wemotec's Midi fan unit is a perfect fit. The one I had used 540 can motors and the older Eco Fans with a total cell count of 14-16, I think. Robert, of EJF, used the Ultra 930-10 brushed motors and 20 cells.
Robert had flaps, rudders, and retracts, plus ailerons, throttle retracts. I had retracts, ailerons throttle and elevator. If I were to do it again I would use a brushless combination of 10-12 CP1700 cells per motor for about 500watts per fan. The CBM, if built per instruction, is pretty heavy. I like the way a lighter A-10 flys, more nimble but not fast, scale. Just my opinion. As for motor selection go to Ezone and look for old EDF column articles by Chris True. He is my fan andmotor guru  ...BTW, where did you find a CBM A-10? |

thanx for the reply, i actually got my CBM A-10 right here on EZONE
i went to an old forsale thread and thought i'd take shot at it. so i emailed the guy and apparently the deal had fallen through with the person who was suppose to buy it. So i jumped on it, now i have the A-10 so i guess i just go lucky.Kyle |

use midi fans for sure !
I'm working on a scratch built a-10 a little bigger (55" WS) than the CBM. I plan on using the mega brushless 22/30/4 on 28 2400's or 3300nihi. this set up should give me over 4 minute flights and over 130W per pound +/- you can also go with the mega 22/30/3 and 22 2400's for similar power but 3 minute flights with throttle management. good luck |
