New FOC2 Bad battery

Received FOC2 a few days ago. Everthing went fine firmware update etc.
Power last 45 seconds! Charged many times, can shot a couple photos and 12 seconds of video and there goes the battery. After a 3 HR charge shows 33 for battery and then you can watch it die.

Darn I hate that replace it thing.

Normally you need to wait a couple of cycles before the lipo battery reaches its peak performance ( I say around 5 cycles with 3hr charging each). Try charging it back and using it a couple more times and hopefully it would give you more recording time. I could record 30 mins straight, but if I make a couple of clips starting and stopping the recording I would say around 15mins only, dunno why but works for me

flycam

They are sending me a new one. My charge lasted about 2 min., then about 5 min. I could never get the fimware to update.
I read the read me file.
I downloaded the file from flyone. When I unzipped it had a readme file and 2 other files. One said update and one install, in the update folder were 3 programs stko2n.0 update, which I installed. then stk02nc wc viewer and stko2nu-update.
Is the stko2n 2.0 update the app. that is suppose to update the camera?
I might be on to something. I held the mode button and plugged the camera into the computer. It came up with a search for drivers and I exited. I clicked on the update program and all it did was say device can't be initialized. I tried all 4 usb ports and it said the same thing. Lost again

charging

I was at 33 then plugged it in and read 66 after a while it read 33 while plugged in. Now when I plug it in it reads wc mode. I remove it and try to turn it on to get to pc mode. It wont turn on now. , so now it just reads wc and I cant get out of that mode., I think I will take the new one. Thought I had it.

Remove the cable, turn on flycamone then push middle switch (should indicate "RY"). Push mode button until you see "PC". turn off flycamone. Now when you plug it into PC you should see "PC"

Bad Battery

I have charged the FCO2 20-30 times. The most run time I can get is 17 seconds. That's no better than when I received it after first charge. I do have a external 4.8 receiver pack attached and that will run camera forever, well not really but it works fine then. I hate to return it but I guess I have to.

I did a temperature check and was getting 110 degrees on the camera when recording .anyone else getting that hot? Also I get only about 6 min. on vl mode. By the way it will charge when set on wd mode. I am still going to take the new camera because I feel I should get a longer run than this, its been my experience with lipo's that they will improve but not a lot., it certainly wont go from 6min. to 30 min.

You might need to contact the shop where you bought your flycam, I think they might need to replace it.

Replaced

I did contact Hobby Lobby yesterday and it was a good experience. They are going to send me a new camera and then return the defective one in there box with there shipping label which they provide. How can you beat that! Customer service #1. This seperates the great companies from the others.

Here are my notes on how to update the FCO2 with the 3.03 firmware along with the original instructions.

Assuming that you downloaded the "Update-Reinstall 3.03" ZIP file, unzip it and RUN the STK02 2.0 Update and the STK02NU-Update from the extracted "Update-Reinstall 3.03/Update Directory.

Driver installation FCO2 firmware update

1. Install file STKO2N 2.O
NOTE: After you RUN the STK02 2.0 UPDATE, Reboot your computer then continue to the next step.

2. Move to "WC"-Mode of the camera and connect the FCO2 via USB-Cable to your Computer.

3. Download program will be open, you can use to download the FCO2 files.
Close this window!
NOTE: If your system doesn't see the plugged in FCO2 at this time you will get the Driver install program to appear. Click on "NO, not at this time and then click NEXT. Now click on Automatically search for and install the driver.
IF you had to do this step, Reboot your computer with the FCO2 unplugged after the driver was installed, after your computer is up and running, plug in the FCO2 and wait to make sure the the system see the camera then continue with the next step.

4. Start the program STK02NU-Update.
Select:
DRAM: 0X35
DRAM SIZE: 8M
NOTE: once you click the "Update" it does stay highlighted, however the screen will now say Please wait until the Update is done. This means, sit and wait until you see the Update successful screen in step 5.

5. After approx. 90 secs program gives feed back! Update sucessful!

6. Disconnect the FlyCamone and switch it off and on again! (not your PC!)

7. Additional points in the menue are available now.

Here are some other interesting things that I have discovered while testing the FCO2.

1. If you ever experience that you can't stop a recording (dots just keep moving in the LCD display) by using the shutter button. Power off the FCO2 and your recording is lost. Replace your memory card, it is too slow for the camera to operate correctly. NOTE: My FCO2 was ordered with the memory card (FCO rapid rush 4.0 2GB) which now is in the trash. I have replaced it with a Toshiba Secure Digital Card 2GB (SD card). This SD card is Blue in color and I have even used the Toshiba SD 2GB high speed (20meg/sec) which is white in color.

NOTE: A slow memory card will also cause, very short record times, longer record times will result in the "Running moving dots" to ocurr.

2. The record time on mine is 47 minutes (at room temperature) on a full charge, however this is temperature dependent. While flying a model using the FCO2 at 55 degree outside I managed to get over 18 minutes before it dies. With the new update the last video is saved during the camera's power down due to the battery. This is a added plus. I have now a 4.8 2000mah battery pack for it so now the internal battery isn't a factor when it is a little cool to cold outside. Now the total record time is about 1 hour and 10 minutes, This is when the 2GB SD card will be full.

3. My computer will not boot up IF the FCO2 is connected to the USB port. Just unplug the FCO2 and the computer will boot up without any problems. This problem I believe will only happen if you have the 3.03 firmware installed into the FCO2.

I hope this helps All who reads this posts.
Happy Filming your next flight.
