Blazy Bee - Plans, Pic's, and Fun!

I have always had a liking for the Clancy Aviation Lazy Bee since flying one at the club field. I even aquired the plans to build, but have not got around to it. Then I got bit by the brushless bug, and have not recovered.

After building Tony65x55's Blu-Baby and its monobloc construction, I was inspired to design and build a Blu Lazy Bee, or Blazy Bee. Here are the completed spec's;

Wingspan - 30.5"
Length - 21"
Weight - 6 oz.
Motor - Hobby City 16g outrunner or E-flite Park 250
Battery - 2s Lipo 300-450 Mah
Servos - I used 3.6g Blue Arrow's
ESC - 6-10 amp
Airframe - FFF "Proctection Board" (3/16" thick)
Monobloc construction
2mm x 5-1/4" CF landing gear axle

I just did the maiden today. Flew it indoors, and fabulously pleased. Nice slow flight, and easy to keep in a tight area.

I would REALLY like to build a Stagger Bee, if anyone has plans to share. I think its the swankiest non-scale design around. Wheel pants and reverse stagger, woo-woo!

Too bad its no longer in production.

Beautiful job on the Bee. What a wonderful park flyer. Tony's monobloc is a winner--something we'd do well to incorporate in any full fuse foamie.

Blue,

No paint, colored packing tape and fine point sharpie for rib lines.

Friends,

The plans are uploaded and in post #1. There is more that I would like to do, but that would delay putting them up. I will revise as needed. I like to model in 3D when possible.

Thanks for sharing the planes. I will have to build this one when I have a chance. Could you post a pic of the underside of the plane with a view of the battery area. Is it open on the under side? I am not sure what is solid mono block and what is hollow on the plans. And was your CG on the wing?

Sorry about forgetting the CG. I will post additional screen shots of fuselage details this weekend. See the attached picture for CG and Battery cavity question.

The Monobloc follows the same concept as Tony65x55's Blue Baby, with the exception of being tapered on the nose. This model can be built with a straight nose also.
