Dude, that's two in how many weeks?!?

Surely a bit of epoxy will have it back up?

Waiting for glue to dry on the second skin panel. I'm waiting on parts to come in, so it'll be a while before doing any real work.

As for time - shouldn't you be glueing instead of typing? :P

Hrmm a new blabber thread. In the spirit of further off-topic discussion, I present the following conundrum.

I have an Xbox 360 but no HDTV, so I use a VGA cable (D-Sub) and plug it into my 20" LCD monitor. The monitor has both DVI and D-Sub ports. My PC is normally plugged into it via DVI. In order to play the 360 I turn off the monitor, unplug the PC's DVI cable, plug in the 360's VGA cable, then turn it back on. After I'm finished playing I turn it off again and swap the cables back. In the past I had no problems with this, often I would swap back and forth between them repeatedly, but now all of a sudden when I plug the PC back in and turn the monitor on again it comes up with "no input detected". I can swap back to the 360 and it will show up fine, but I have to reboot the PC in order for it to display a signal from the DVI port again. This is a serious PITA. Anyone got any ideas on what might be causing this?

my first question is if one is dsub and the other is DIV, why are you unplugging them and not just switching between them??
sounds like a PITA right there!

GG,
You don't have a Dell do you? Mine will automatically de-select multi-monitor outputs if I remove the vga cable. I can reset it using Fn-F8 though.

If all else fails, a 50" 1080p plasma may be in your future

You should be able to leave both plugged in and at least switch between inputs in the monitor menus?

Hrmm...didn't realise it even had input select. Was hidden away in one of the menus. I guess I can try that, I just would have liked to know why it wasn't auto-switching back to DVI (in the past if you had them both plugged in it would always default to DVI if there was a signal).

While we have IT support is a DVD drive that chatters away and fails to read a disc just have a dusty lense, will a quick shot of compressed air fix it?

I have a DVD micro system (stereo) that had a problem where it would make a funny chattering noise and wouldn't read. Upon disassembly, I found one of the pinions in the drive for the read head had fallen off the shaft (factory missed cir clip). Fixed it, happened again so I made a clip from some scrap ally.
I am assuming yours is a DVD drive in a PC though, which I would guess has a stepper motor and screw setup, so the above is probably irrelevant.
If all else fails, compressed air shouldn't hurt (depending on the pressure.

Nothing to lose with a shot or air I guess. Any misssing pinions or circlips its probably 40 bucks for a new drive.

When u plugged the pc back in are you sure that it wasnt asleep?
Because my 22" LCD sometimes instead of going into powersaving mode just says input not detected but i move the mouse and there ya have it pc is back.
