When to go idleup-1

I wanted to know when you should switch to idleup-1 for a helicopter,in flight or while it is on the ground.

Not quite as rude as you it seems

He was trying to help you. You will get more answers if you look in the right place.
You should have thanked him.

To answer your question, I generally switch to idle up on the ground as soon as the motor has spooled up.
If you use a Schulze controller the very nice soft start and governor lets you flip to idle up to start the motor.
