OK, I got my Charger RC Axilon in today!

Here are the specs...

Wingspan: 37.8"
Length: 39.6"
Flying Weight: 14-15oz

I will be using a Hyperion Z2213-24, but this is a little bigger than the suggested motor.

When I first opened the box I was very impressed! All the foam is CNC cut. Has a carbon spar, and push-rods! It even comes with a motor mount, and Blenderm tape for the hinges, not some crappy tape REAL BLENDERM!

The fuse, and wing pieces are made so that they interlock with each other. The servos holes are pre-cut, and mine came with an extra set of SFGs!

I see big decals. I also see Charger RC quality.

I saw Charger RC flying this up that the AMA convention, and it looked pretty good. I like the fact that they included SFGs, already precut. I normally have to find some scrap foam to use to make my SFGs.

OK, it is usually easier to apply the decals before putting the plane together, so I did that first...

OK, I got everything glued together, and the surfaces hinged.

With the way the fuse pieces interlock, it is very easy to make sure the vertical fuse piece is at a 90 degree angle from the horizontal fuse piece.

It says in the manual not to glue the SFGs in, so that if they are to get damaged, they can easily be replaced. They are held in tight just by being slid into the slot on the wing.

The electronics installation is very easy. The mount holes in the Z2213 matches up perfectly to the holes in the supplied motor mount.

All the servos are located under the wing.

Yup, you like the Charger RC interlocking fuse pieces? I absolutely love that feature on all the foamies I get. Makes it sooooo easy to put the plane together, and build it straight. I would probably just glue in the SFGs, as they might fall off in flight. I would just repair them.

Any way, I am running that same motor on my Flash, at 16oz with a 3s 1320 and 11x4.7 prop, I get amazing power and about 11min flight times. That is a really nice plane, I am trying to stick with planes that use the same sized batteries to keep my budget low, so this one sure will be in their. I cant wait to hear about the maiden flight!

Flyin C, yes, it is a very powerful motor! My guesstimate right now is that I will be able to hover just under half throttle!

Xpress, this thing is so precision cut, that once the SFGs are slid on the only way you could get them off, is to actually pull them off. I am certain they could not come off in mid flight.

One thing I do want to point out is that there is no landing gear included with the kit. However, Charger RC sells a landing gear kit made specifically for their planes for $7.99

I wouldn't use landing gear. I would either A: Put a zip tie along the nose of the fuselage, where it will contact the ground, or B: Add two pieces of scrap foam onto the nose, where it contacts the ground. I have done both, and both have worked extremely well. Another tip is to just ditch the landing part, and catch it in midair while hovering. Keeps the plane very clean. If you do land, and dirty up the bottom of the fuse, try to keep the wings level with the ground, untill you are like 3-4" off of the ground, then let it settle in. You could flare the elevator a bit, to let the tail touch first, and completely stop the plane, so it settle down with a bit of a "thunk".
