Nice toy. Of course, the software/graphical method could be done with a bird in flight, in the right conditions and with good sound equipment. It might be a bit harder to do with the custom flapometer.

Yes, it's a lot of fun, i fly it inbetween the flights of my heli at the local fun fly. It's always a topic to break the ice especially when i run into unfamiliar faces. When there's a breeze, it adds some challenge to the fun too. I tried to point it against the wind and it hovered still there.

Does anyone know of a source to purchase the Cybird P2 anymore?

I ended up ordering the Avitron V2 from http://www.rcflyingbird.com/

Looks much more advanced and the Cybird p1 or P2 seems to discontinued.

I noticed the Cybird had great soaring capabilities for an ornithopter. I liked how the second version had elevator style control - which would be key for possible slope soaring.
I.e.
Slope soaring Fort Funston Ornithopters Life Is Good (6 min 36 sec)

I just don't want to pay $500+ for an orni.

Pay the big bucks for a good performing orni, it's truly worth it. If you manage to find a p1 or p2 at this point I'd be worried about fatigued metal and plastic and parts support is non existance.

I bought the avitron v1, flew it a couple times inside and I feel like I'm done with it.

I have a old P-1 in my closet collecting dust; I have given up on it. Was tired of braking wings, so I went to the SK Ornithopter instead.

Nice fleet! I spent $100 bucks on my avitron with shipping but I must say, I liked my vamp from back in the day, better.
