The stock gear is ok as you can bend it back easily, but I got tired of bending it back after almost every flight. The Robart gear rocks.. Let us know how it goes - video!

Maidening the Pawnee 40 has been put on the backburner for a while. Somebody decided to destroy both our strips with a 4WD on the weekend.

If he is landing that hard you are right in questioning his, I'll say "skill" instead of ability.
A simple solution while he works on improving his skills would be to switch to soft foam wheels. I prefer them anyway.

I am wondering too Harry.

Have yet to maiden my Piper Pawnee, been too windy for too long now. This weekend looks like more of the same but hopefully it will get a flight soon.

I found in a couple of smaller models, if I had too much down thrust on the motor, landing was a problem. The plane would pop up when I cut the throttle leading to bouncy landings. A shim washer fixed it.

Bob, hope it dies down pretty soon, you must be getting anxious. Once you get to know the plane it is actually very "sporty" in strong wind. 1959? me too!

59 was a great year Harry! (don't remember a lot of it though )

I am looking forward to flying the Pawnee but I am also not in a great hurry. Still in the early stages of learning and I haven't really set myself a timetable for progression - just when I feel comfortable I guess.

The Apprentice I was flying is just about retired and I am now playing around with a Parkzone Stinson which flies really nice. Soon I will start on the Parkzone T28 and take it from there.
