Flight report :good news with the bad

Flew my Mini MAx today without a hitch . Smooth flying , good air time and smooth landings. Kewl, I'm a happy camper.

Go back to the car and get out the Superstar EP.

Good launch, nice climbout good turn wind picking up so i figure one more go around and then land to be safe .

WRONG ! It looked like the tail was grabbed and turned faster than you can say " uh oh "
Now the plane is completely 180 deg from where it was pointing and absolutely no foward movement ,gets tossed backwards, inverts and goes nose first to ground ouch

All better now though !
Using a litle S.P.A.D. technology the front end is now all rebuilt
and she is as good as new !
Not as pretty as the monocote film but flying is flying and who is gonna see the details when its up high ? lol
Glad I had some coroplast laying around !

Here are 2 pics of the coroplast repair.
Was able to "jigsaw the sides of the fuse back to a resemblence of a front end.
Then cut a piece of coroplast, folded it to fit the width of the plane, flashed it ,and glued it to each side and bottom.
Then a quick snip or 2 so batterydoor fits and landing gear mounted and wha-la .
Luckily the landing gear and all the "harder"wood associated with it stayed in one piece and I was able to reglue it to the inside of the fuse.

Was out this mornin before the rain and with no wind at all, heheh, it flew like a dream !
Thanks to the S.P.A.D. ideas , I saved myself ~ $40.00 (the cost of a new fuse plus S&H)
plus the wait cause the fuse isn't available yet from tower hobbies anyways .

Its not the worlds prettiest repair but after the carnage of the day before and seeing it flying around the next morning it has to be the prettiest thing you've ever seen

How did the wing come out? The fuse looks like it will work.

Hi Don,

Would you believe the wings werent harmed in the crash at all !

One of the guys that saw the original crash was with me the next morning and couldn't believe the plane was flying again !

To me the repairs using the coroplast have made no ill effects on the planes handling , in fact I'd say it seems to fly a tad smoother.
Maybe that little wieght added in the repairs may have helped the planes COG thus the smoother feel while its in the air .?
