If I can get 6 minutes running then this would be great. As for the Motorcal not being able to match up this motor I can't figure. I fly most times using Hacker motors and I know the Hackers can have quite a bit of headroom as far as going over the manufactures recommended voltage and amps............so maybe the Hyperion motor can do the same thing. At any rate I do like this setup and I did find some use for a motor which I had sitting around with no use.
Thanks guys for the help. This motor will end up in a new Hyperion 40E P-51 Mustang.

I have been using the Gen Ace packs in all my planes including my large EDFs and they work really well.......no problems, prices are great and if you subscribe to their site you can catch great sales on their lipos.

Yes I like the 25C Gen Ace.........I have used the 3000Mah(35C) and the 5300mah packs in 4s and 6s and never a problem. Hobby Partz has sales quite often ....order a pack and try them.

Just throwing this question out again to those who may have tried the newer 65/130c Nano packs
I have some gens 30c packs and I'm not all that impressed with them..

I race FE boats and my smaller setup pulls 45 to 55 amps cont on 5000mah
and my big 4s boat pulls about 95 to 110 amps cont on 10,000mah

I'v been doing some amp testing on a rig I have up
started out with 30amp cont
then went to 45amp cont
I will put something together that pulls closer to 80amps cont to try my 6 different branded lipo packs against each other..
so far the 30 and 45 amp testing has brought some interesting finds..

Thought that folks might be interested in my Sundowner setup. This is my second attempt, my first used a dirt cheap motor which burnt out on a full throttle climb out - was just a bit exciting seeing an electric model leave a smoke trail like a nitro slimer, never landed so fast in my life! Could feel the heat from the motor through the cowl, windings were charcoal! Anyway, the new setup works beautifully.

I'm using a Scorpion HK3-4025 550kV Motor running an APC 11x14 prop on a pair of 6S 2650 Turnigy Nanotech 45/90C packs in parallel. I'm using a HobbyKing Super Simple 90-100A ESC, running the radio gear off an HV UBEC (again from Turnigy). Had to add a little ballast to the tail to get the CoG right.

The Eagletree GPS sensor has logged a best speed of 149.6mph, although I think that was with a good tail wind, seeing 130-140mph peak speeds on most flights, with ~100A current spikes when taking off with the prop stalled - really snarls until it gets a bit of airspeed. Makes a fantastic howl on those fast'n'low passes! Typically getting 6-7 minutes of flight time with careful throttle management.

I've got a flaperon mix running to help slow her down for landing, and I've fitted a set of BrainCube lights to help orientation when the wing is edge-on as I was losing track of the bank angle against the horizon on approach (full disclosure - I run BrainCube Aeromodels, the Sundowner is one of our demonstrators). Managed to rip out the undercarriage a couple of times before I got the hang of bringing her in.

I'm well pleased with the beast, the only thing faster round these parts are the jets!

Cheers,

Oliver

Oliver, that sounds awesome. I have a very similar scorpion setup in my Sundowner (4025-10 515kv) and I think that 11x14 prop is calling my name If you get a chance, can you snap a pic with your lights on? I'd love to see the setup.

Brushless, some interesting reads here:

not so sure you understand how some things work?

we are free to ask questions to anyone on these forums looking for possible answers!

I don't live in the make it quick life style...
don't need the answer two days ago... rather have honest answers from folks who have run these lipos to get there honest feelings

so ya, it's working just fine..

I'm not going to shell out some big bucks for 4s 5000mah packs if they are not worth it.. no reason to spend the cash and have them sit
