Thanks umitv. I've givin adding cells a thought but it didnt sound like the right answer to me. here's my prospective..... and if I'm wrong please feel free to set me straight :-).... Adding cells would increase voltage and rpm but also increases the amps. The only way to bring amps and watts back to resonable numbers would be to decrease the prop diameter and pitch. Would there be enough of a gain to off set the added wieght?

You are right. But if you wanna fly fast, there is no reasonable number . I'm gettin 4000 watt (10s) to fly 140+mph
or I have a friend that he has hacker a50 in his sundowner and it's pretty fast (around 100mph) with 6s. so it's up to how your motor and esc handle it

I am running a scorpion 4035-400kv on 10s i am right around 140mph with a 12x12 APC prop! I am going to try the APC pattern prop 12x14 =) My friend is running it in his pc-21 on 10s and that thing is fast..

I have an Hyperion ZS4025 - 10, Hobbywing 125A ESC and a 6 cell 5000mAh battery from another plane that I want to install into a Sundowner 50. Does anyone have a suggestion for prop and an estimate of the top end speed? If I went with an eight cell then same question?

I did some testing today. With the APC pattern prop 12x14 i was pulling 109amp 2100watts 10s on the ground. Holly Sh-t dose this prop pull. Cant wait to check the speed on this bad boy! I am for sure going to be running the 12x14 prop.

these number on very safe area. I got 4035-460 motor 12x12 prop is pulling 118 amp and 4000 watts 10s.

Dose my numbers seem right then? I have a 4035-400kv dose the 460 make that much diff in amps? Just to dubble check i have the casle serise cable hooked up to my ESC then i have both lipos on the other ends but when i did the test i had the amp metter btw one of the plugs the red and black it should not matter right??? If i would hook it up to the esc first then to the castle siers cable right? After a flight with a 12x12 prop my moter gets hot but its also 102+ in AZ

I just did a nother test running the watt metter stright from the esc and i got 107-109 amps and 3700 watts!

I've been lurking and reading from about 50 pages or so back. You guys are making me want one!! I have a H9 P-40b with the P52 motor on 5s 5300s, but want something a little bigger than the SD36 and fast.....

U will love the sd50 even on 10s the plane flys like a dream and lands like a fomie almost

If you have fun with the SD36, you are REALLY going to appreciate the SD50. IMHO it does everything better and has nicer flying characteristics...
