So I've got lipos, but I don't know how to wire them

I just got 2 Micro T's (2S, 220mah) from CBP. They came with bare leads - red, black, and white.

What charger can I use with them? And what plugs will I need?

Thanks

from their web page:

" Pack comes with three wires. Red and Black are used to wire a plug. The white wire is used as a way to check cell balance. Mapping: Red to White = Cell #1, White to Black = Cell #2. You should try to check balance every couple of charges to insure cells are in balance to each other. "

the wire plug you need is losi part # LOSB0860

one end will be for the battery the other for your LIPO charger, do not use old losi charger it will cause fire if you do.

the white wire is for checking balance as mentioned above, just put a piece od shrink tubbing over it and tape it to the side of the pack so its out of the way.

Best Wishes,

Dan

Or better yet, either get a balancer plug for that, or a separate jack soldered to it.

With the separate jack you can charge the cells individually, preventing cell drift.

Thank you!

I'm not quite sure how the whole balancer thing works. Is there a way to balance the cells or check the balance without a balancer?

The balancer compares the two cells (the Voltage) and then bypasses the chaging current of the cell that has a higher voltage. With more than 2 cells, it compares cell 1 with cell 2, 2 with 3, 3 with 4, and so on.

The only way to do that without a balancer is to charge them seperately, one after the other.

what you can do is this:
After flight, when you charge them, almost at the end of the charge, just measure the cells. If the voltage from one cell to the other is different mor than .05volts, charge them seperately (only a short while, for now they are almost full). If the difference is less, just continue to charge them normally.

Ah makes sense. So in essence I would need 1 plug that is used to charge the battery and power my electronics and then a second plug thats strictly for the balancer? Or Do they make plugs that integrate the balancer cable? That Losi cable only has 2 wires

Integrate balance wires with the power cable? No.

Make plugs to connect balancing charger to balance connector on battery. Yes

If the charger only has 2 wires it is a non-balancing charger. You would have to charge each cell individually or buy a balance adaptor such as the Hyperion, which plugs into the charger and has balance leads that connect to the battery pack.

Thanks

I found this diagram that puts things into perspective: http://www.3dhobbyshop.com/detail.aspx?ID=1620

I had ordered 2 pairs of JST connectors. So I'd just need to solder on JSTs onto the battery leads and then get a separate one to hook up the the balancer lead to the balancer.
