A Micro Mustang

Thank you Cox for creating these wonderful planes ! I remember as a kid thinking of an rc plane that was just this size... My dad would set me straight and tell me that they couldn't be made this small. It's great to be around now that they can be made.

I think Cox made a mistake not continuing these little warbirds. I bought this last summer at my LHS. I have seen very few since. I posted about it here in the massive Cox thread - read it when you have a spare week. Check Out The Maiden Flight In Post Six of this thread!!! (Click the comments link in blog above.)

Look for the replacements to come out in May 2008 - barring delays!

BTW Maidened on Saturday!

I flew this bird - my first warbird - for the first time Yesterday. It was a success! First off, it isn't any harder than my 20" wingspan cub - in fact, the wings of each plane have the same dihedral! It's very stable, but the rudder offers no authority, especially at full throttle. I had to throttle down to get a little banking, and then use the elevator to complete the turns.
I flew several more times yesterday, and unfortunately discovered the stall speed at too low an altitude. I cracked some foam, but had it repaired in 10 minutes (That's our definition of a landing - not a crash.)

Congrats on the maiden. If you have programmable rates on your transmitter, you could up the throws on the rudder for more authority.

Yes I fly her often - it's my current favorite plane.
