Yep looking forward to some new spots and some new faces (not that the Vic crowd are well, ugly, er well most of them... but you know what I mean)

Will be riding the motorbike up some time next week, then hunt for somewhere to rent not too far from some of the local sloping spots (sssshhh don't tell the missus).

If I looked at say, Carina Heights how far to a slope site anyone?

Now, big question is...can I fit the Speedo on the bike so I don't have to wait until Easter when the toys turn up? hmmm
Cheers

Stu

Carina Heights? Oh no, we don't speak to anyone from the SOUTHSIDE!! Unless they're far enough down that it classifies as the Gold Coast!

Haha! There are slopes in each direction so the choice is yours. South to Beechmont if you can squeeze in between Tim, Kane, Kevvy, Shane and the other guys who crowd into that pokey little frontside opening and also sacrifice their planes to DS in the most dangerous DS spot in SEQ. Or if it's winter and westerlies head west to Cactus for the best lift and DS in SEQ. There are also a few other spots out that way like Withcott, the Laidley flyers hill, and other places that take hours to get to and have barely passable conditions. But on the NORTHSIDE you have Shorncliffe and Woody Point in your backyard and travelling north gives access to the many glorious slope soaring opportunities of multiple majestic sites such as the Knob, T-Bones, Cheese Factory and other various lookouts around Maleny ...some wild "extreme sloping" destinations such as Mt Ngungun & Wild Horse Mt, then there's big sky at Pedwell Rd at Mt Mee ... or for the most reliable all round slope and DS in SEQ, there's Bandicoot. Or hit the Sunshine Coast beach slope sites such as Point Cartwright or Moffat. Or go for an epic day at Carlo Sandblow at Rainbow Beach. And of course you have the prestige of being able to name drop that you live near some of the big names of sloping and building ... Jirvin, Larrikin, Sean, Shane, and many more.

Not that I'm biased Stu... the decision is yours!

Are Mt Black and Hollowback two different places Roger?

Dunno why, but I've always assumed they were one and the same

Ok... I'll bit then - where exactly is Mt Black?

Is it a half-decent place to fly?

Central location.

Just for hyperthetical reasons, where abouts would be a central location to live in respect to all the flying sites mentioned in the page above?
