nooo, not me. It's Mothers day, and Hollowback can be a little "mundane". It's best in Summer when slermal action rocks in.

Winder time it is bitterley cold, I've been sub zero'd up there! Besides I don't own a richochet.

I can remember times up at Hollowback in the winter when it was almost snowing and blowin about 40knots. that must of been nearly 20 years ago, funny thing is I did own a Richochet. Man how time flys. Hollowback is best with a S/SW wind. Although we did have a couple of good days from the North.

Yes, it is indeed much better in S/SW, but there are "other" places which provide a religous experience when the wind blows from this direction!

I might just have to become a believer. Bring on the wind . Way back when I was doin a bit of slope soarin I only ever flew at Hollowback and once down near Bass, I think it was called Eagles Nest. From memory it had awsome lift but the landing was a b$$ch. This was back in the day when the Richocet's etc had just come out, so it gives you an idea how long ago that was.

Eagles nest is Ok, it was featured on the Veedeo at the start of this thread. Landing there is pretty good, however it's quite tame compared to some of the "special" places.

The best require a "hike", and are subject to a wild rotah.

On LZ's Cape Schank has perhaps the most marginal LZ (or lack therof...) of all the sites, however the correct equipment makes this a non issue.

Sam,

So far, no real good North sites. There is an interesting NW DS site that we have found, but Bruce got "told to leave" when he went to investigate.

There is potentially a site at Portsea near the old quarrantine, but it's a hike and see affair.

At the moment, I think the best is the one you discovered with Roger at Hotham!

Sam.

BullSh*t, the back side of "Magic Mountain" is great in a North. You've done most of your flying on the back side Sam.

What is Magic Mountain? Besides, the rotor is no big deal at The Altar, you just need to know the correct landing approach.

You can D/S on Melton dam wall, with a north wind. Bit closer than Hotham, foam only.
