No luck with the airliner 747 today, 3 attempts couldn't get off the ground.
1. Not enough surface area on the elevators.
2. Not enough smooth take off surface.
3. Nose retract failed on all 3 attempts.

Back to the drawing board. It would have taken off eventually if the retracts didn't fail.

It has flown before as a prop pusher.

maybe it would start flying if you launch it off of a moving car...?

She just took off but I must have paniced and sat her down at which point the retracts fails

She flew today, I will post video once the guys filming give it to me. She flew fantastic and true to scale!!! Loved it, even though my knees were shaking

Now it's time to make her look nice with a paint job and finish off the minor details.

Great job! She looks geat. Is it still running on just 2 fans, or are all 4 running?

BTW, what is the AUW with the fan setup and what size are the fans?

i am in the middle of building the model but i took the f4 formers out and replaced with f5 so it is like a 737 as it is first build up to now all is good

So, the only thing I see wrong there is the battery; it's not nearly big enough to handle anything close to 18A. I don't know what that motor will draw with that fan, but 18A would be a 50C discharge rate. Firstly, the battery won't handle it, and secondly, even if it did, it's only going to run for a little over a minute. Something like 1500mAh is more like it.

You can run two ESCs off one channel, use a y-lead and remove the middle pin from one ESC lead (so the BECs don't argue with each other).

FANs: 64mm GWS 6 blade (x2)
ESC: Extreme Power 60Amps (x2)
Battery: Extreme Power 4000mAh, 4 Cell (3.5 minutes flight max, need bigger pack)
Thrust per fan = 1.1 kg each.

May not be enough. What do you expect the all up weight to be?

If its around 2-3kg you will need whats listed below.

Battery is too small - 4000maH 4 Cell (and 4-6 cell charger) minimum to get 3.5 minutes flight
Motors ok - i used 4000kv
18a ESC (will fry instantly) - too small - get a 60A for a little extra cost, you need 2
HXT 9 gram servos are the best the blue cheap ones from hobbycity.
Fans good: go the 64mm for little extra cost

Great job!

You know those fans that aren't running provide drag especially if those impellers are windmilling. You could either power 'em up or install some fake feathered impellers...
