Wild Wild Wild Hawk

I love this bird. Luckily, you don't need any skill to fly one!

It's the WildHawk from HarborFreight. A very good EZ knock-off. Pick it up on sale for 69$ RTF with TX.

Yep they have the perfect mods, like hidges, and a bigger rudder stock. However the foam is not the Muiltiplex foam. Stock servos seem ok, and the 27mhz radio is good for 27mhz.

I've seen one of these things fly stock and it didn't fly at all like that! You must have done some mods!

Wow, that does fly well. I agree, hard to believe from a $70 RTF plane. Did you upgrade anything?

Stock motor with a slightly bigger prop - that's why I had to slowly climb back up after each roll. The CG is back a little from where I first liked it. The rudder is extended. I added a thin piece of strapping tape down the center of the under side of each wing. That stops the extra dihedral that normally forms when the wings are loaded in flight. I love this thing, but I'm a terrible pilot.

For an update... It's predicted to be below 0F for this weekend and the Wild Hawk hasn't flown for a few months.

Great birds. I have 3. One I have been flying for over a year. I just swapped in a Futaba Rx so I can fly with my T4EXA (all other elects. stock). No more glitching or range issues. Like said before though, the stock one is pretty good for park flying. I also have one that I fully glassed (no wing flex at all). It has stock elects. and flies fast and twitchy. It needs a brushless conversion with the added weight, but works pretty good.
The rudder extension is a must, but with it I can get my WH to roll pretty tight. The Easystar suffers from a small rudder as well. Great plane and white Gorilla Glue will keep you in the air for a long time. Mine has lots of GG and epoxy and it still flies like a champ.

I converted my HF Wild Hawk to brushless and use it to haul around a videocam. It's defintely exceeded my expectations for a $60 plane. A flying buddy of mine still flies his with everything stock. Here's a video of him helping his kids shoot touch and goes.
