Thanks Mike,
I appreciate you reconsidering... I really did work my tail off on that F100 and thought about it 24/7... Hell I even molded a little pilot! So much overthinking that I needed to take a break after the 'maiden'
Obviously your airplane and Dave and Mike's flew - and flew well... Well at least I've got my Rayfish flying decently now.. Profiles always work better.. lol
Anyway I'm not giving up, I'm gonna give this another shot as soon as I can.
We have to give Ryan some credit here, at least it raised the interest in these micro jets a bit. If I do end up winning the contest in 30mm category, its definitely not because it flew well, but just looked pretty. Maybe next time(if there is a next time) it will be both!
I'd like to try an F106 sometime, I still have the plastic model sitting here waiting to be molded.... Anyway no hard feelings...
-Josh

I hate cheater holes. I cut one in my large L-39 and almost got killed for it I fear, the hawk might need one...

Nitro, I need t go to the post office. Still too much trouble over here.

I don't mind cheater holes in these small jets... hard to get enough air flowing through... plus it makes it easier to swap out equipment.

Ryan,

While I disagree with your judgement, it is your contest and I do appreciate your stepping up to take responsibility for making the call.

well I did a small glide test without the battery in there today and it seemed to glide pretty straight, so now I'm unsure of the aoa problem. I think it may have just been a bad hand launch. when I get back from rochester I'll give it another go.

Throw it hard!

My cheater hole comment was in jest. They really kill the lines of a model

Josh: "I think it may have just been a bad hand launch"

Nitro: "Throw it hard!"

I say, don't throw it but do whatever you feel like.

A bad hand launch is what I saw. I think you can't throw low wings with high wing loading safely enough. How much effort would it be for you to get a rubber band, a nylon string and a board? Do you have local suppliers??

I'll draw up something...

Chris

Agreed Chris. A launcher would guarantee the same good launch every time but Josh sounded like he was going to fly the next day.

I have a little finger grip on the bottom of the Hawk which works like a charm.

chris thanks for the ramp drawing... the jet only weighs around 20 grams so hand launching it hard will crush it. i found after a little glide test yesterday you have to give it a gentle nudge into the air, perfectly level, and it will glide straight. I had put a little grip thing on the underside of the exit duct for hand launches... i think building the bungee ramp thing might actualy be fun... lol
