fms and vista and screen flicker
I loaded fms on a computer loaded with Vista. I had to the same dll file that I have on other vistas. However, now it runs but the screen flickers (almost rolls) so you can't see the picture. I tried changing the frame rate on the monitor, but no luck. I am guessing its maybe a graphics issue but have no idea what to do. Any one with ideas?

I know that the more modern nvidia cards arnt well supported by fms but I found that droping the texture detail to minimum (landscape) fixed a flicker issue i had with vista.

Clicking the graphics tab and unchecking textures makes it run. Cheap and unfortunately not pretty like the nice sims you pay for. But I want simple learning techniques so it serves my purpose again. thanks blade

Yeah, I had the same issues on my new Vista machine, and turning off the textures 'fixed' it.
It's nowhere near as nice as my Xp computer, I'm considering formatting the thing and installing XP for many such reasons. Last edited by Vernon; Jan 26, 2008 at 01:50 PM. |

I had this too when I upgraded my laptop (old was XP, new is Vista).
Not found a cure yet, so I decided to stump up the cash for Clearview instead. Free alternative I guess is Heli-X, but I struggled to get my controller set up with that. |

Funny, this is not all vistas, my daughter's laptop and my inlaws vista work fine with it.

it's the Nvidia card combo.
if you have a powerful enough nvidia card. you can get around it in photolistic sceneries. In skybox format. simply alter the size of the bottom image to 2048x2048 or have one of the skybox image a different size from the rest. click on run in window on the upper right hand side. don't ask me why. There's also a phtolistic scenery you can get from rc-sim that'll run without the flickering. I forget the name of it...it's mapped different |
