Got F-22 #3 all built. With a Turnigy 2730 1700 K v ( 28 grm) motor 8 A great planes esc. a GWS E P 5043 prop. ( had to go with the largest I could cuz of the low Kv ) and a Rhino 450 ma 3 s 20 c Li-po... No paint yet and it's a bit of a porker at 5 oz. But with that prop it has thrust of 1 to 1 at about 1/2 throttle. I came here tonight to check proper C G..... And with no paint and that equipment it hit the C G mark perfectly with that battery tucked in the slot.

Yeah Pat , I realy want you to try the 75% MDC F-14. And I got this F-22 so we could fly together.. See ya next week.

Maiden flight was perfect. Plenty of power on that set up. And as far as being heavier, it rolls tighter and handles brisk afternoon wind better. I'm very happy with it. Gets close to 10 min. flight on 500ma 3s

If you haven't done so, check out these new mini warbirds from Jpower. They are awesome! We are running over 100mph with stock electronics on 4s.

These 50mm jets are awesome for formation flying. Gooniac33 and I team up all the time and fly our 50mm jets.

Greate little jet, have just been building one.
Motor: 1806N - 2100kv
Prop: TGS sport 4.5 x 4.5
ESC: Turnigy Plush 12A
Servos: Hextronics 5g
Lipo: Turnigy NanoTech 3S 460mA
Recvr: Spektrum AR6110e
AUW: 166g

With this setup I had to have WOT all the time just to get it staying in the air.
Many of the people that have been building this jet, has about the same setup and have no problem with flying it.
Is it the prop that is wrong. Have a 5030 that I will try.

Make sure the prop is on "forwards". with the numbers facing the front
You seem to have experience so that's probably not your problem. But a prop on backwards only gives about 1/2 the thrust.
With your motor, esc, and a 3 cell you should be climbing verticle at 1/2 throttle.

Yeah, what Al said. Make sure the front of the prop is facing the front of the plane. With that setup you should be going vertical with no problem.

It seems like it did not get the high rpm. with the 4.5x4.5 sport prop.

Made a prop from a 8x4.3 and tok with me a 5030 to the field.
That was something else. The 5030 gave me more rpm but the cut down prop gave me more thrust. Both made the jet fly like I hope it would.

I like the cut down one best so I will balance it good and try again.

Made som video of both, will post them later this evening.

PG11GT I did the very same thing on my first F22

until my Buddy Fran pointed it out. If the prop is on backwards it will act the way you are describing. Mine is a rocket with the same set up you are using. It's a great little airplane. Just finished my "back up" airframe just in case!

That was what I was thinking to. I even dobbel check the prop again and it is 100% correct.
But when it suppose to hit that high rpm the plane start to vibrate.
Have to check it out once more, and balance the prop again.
Maybe I have done something wrong when i balance it the first time.

I had my first flight with it today with 5030 prop and it was OK, but was missing a little bit of trust.
If yours a rocket with the same setup, then mine should be a rocket to.

Maybe you are right Martys, I checked out the 4.5x4.5 prop. and it was not balanced.
I balanced my 4.1x4.1 insted of the one I was going to use. That may be the reason I didn`t get the hight rpm that I was expecting.
have to try it again with the 4.5x4.5 and see if it has become a rocket.
