thanks jee glad to help,do you use it just like that with no z bend or quick connect, those plaggy things that clip on the rod? as it could slip off the horn with out them or pop of in a roll

Like foxy I think it is ok on 3S with the 2000Kv version. Unfortunately I don't have that motor, but I have the 1400-4500Kv motor and it may work with a 12" WS version. I still have some spare 3mm foam here and will try to cut some tiny F22.
i think im gonna do a mini as well maybe the 15in the 12 might just be too small, use the 1811 and a small batt under 500mah depending on how the plane turns out a 500 might be just right it, but it should be fast

sure was, its not fun trying to fly a taileron/flying wing type with only one side moving.

it happed to my depron 32in wing the other day, one of the nuts of my quick link came off after a verticle take off while rolling flat out, pulled level and it popped off and just fluttered down nose first from over 50ft in to a bush and it never touched the deck.
but the noise it made was so loud i thought it was well dead.. but it only had a few creases and dents, im pretty sure it would of been a almost total wipe out it it just hit mud it was going down pretty fast

Foxy29 & Deanc338,

My bad. There is a big difference between the 2000K and 4500K versions. If you get a chance, check out the Valkeryie 15g motor at 2DogRC. It's the 1811's big bro and is rated for 2S. But drop down to a 4" prop on 3S, you get over 220g of thrust no sweat.

wow ive just tried a 6x3.5 gws cut down to a 4x3.5 on my 2500kv and wow it screams and sits at 8amps and 6amp on the 2350kv one.
i cut it down as a 5x3 was way to much for it i think i tried a few 4.1x4.1 was 10odd some 12 and was gonna use a 4.5x4 for 10 ish but still felt bogged and compared to my cut down sounded slower rpm wise, the cut 4x3.5 screams and seams to have more thrust just by holding it in my hand, i dont now how it compares blade width ways to a real 4x3.5 mine is 1.5cm its got fat blades compared to a 5x3.

i just cant fly as the winds been blowing big time for weeks now gutted

Foxy,

You just about hit the magic number for the 2500kv motor. I use a GWS 4530. The 5030 is OK, but often cavitates on WOT on the 2500kv. It works fine on the 2200kv motor though.

Crxmanpat,

How do you get the GWS 4530 to sit on the wobbly prop adapter and they are GWS adapters to boot?!?!?! I think I'm going to have to drill one out and try it. I was using an APC 4.5x4.5/4.5x4.1 on the 17" Draken. She'd be gone in a blink. I don't know what the draw was, but bumped up to a Rhino 610mAh 20C 3S just in case.

lol it does the same on the 2350kv one, it exploded and chopped a motor wire and took out my 10amp esc, it was well used prop and had a few crashes and a lot of the crazy noise it made which must of weakened it.

the 2500kv is on a wing but i think i just might put it on the f22 as its a lot lighter than the wing and prolly faster as well 5-6oz Vs 9-10 oz....i cant wait. i also made a little mod, i know there is a heatsink mount, but its on somthing and i lost my other one grrr.

so i cut a bit of alu flat off a old pc heat sink fin and put that under the round mount and it also sticks up a bit above the mount, then put a piece of a heat sink i had cut up for a pc's vrm chips on the bit of flat that sticks up,
i used thermal past all round, and props that made the motor mount warm after a bit feel colder and the sink is warmer so should work good in flight.

i got the idea from doing the same thing on a 2212/6 2200kv as it has a X mount, and no heat sink option and that worked very well it keeps my hot running 2212 cooler than it was on a 6x4.

if my cam batts are charged i will post a pick

The prop adapters Adam had originally were standard Hyperion 3-way prop savers, then had one side milled down by 1/16" for the GWS prop hub. I am no longer having these milled so you have to ream the prop hub. I;m not having any trouble reaming out props.

i was lucky, my 2350kv came with a prop saver that fits GWS spot on and came with both mount types for 7.44 but the 2500 just came with the round mount, but its cheaper at 6.44, i would be happy to pay the extra and get the extras, i just buy prop savers now for the rubbers as they never have spares only cost like 60p, i need some Surgicel tube that works well but can only get it local if i buy the infamous black widow catapult, had some fun with that when i was a kid....nothing was safe, i shot my mate with a visa versa sweet and he had a big bruise on his ass from a choccy sweet, aah good times

i ream my apc type out with a scalpel, i run the blade round the hole just off flat and sort of shave it off till its close, then wrap sand paper round a scroggy and turn that in the hole..not the best way but it works for me and i dont think ive had probs with off center props, but i sort of balence on a stick/rod, then mount and rev up and check again till it runs smooth, i keep meaning to look in the pound shop for a reamer, the one GC sells is crap and blunt for 7.

I have this 1400-4500 looking for a home right now so I'm going for a 10-12" WS build and see what will happen.

If it turns good, then I'll have something to chase my buddy's PZ micro P51's

ive put the 2500kv on now and also changed the servos from 5g to 9g towerpro's as the 5g'ers was playing up giving odd throws, and even after that and a bigger esc 25amp way to big but cant find my solder the cg is still the same.

i flew it today with the old motor on 2s using a 5x5 and it was pretty good for 2s, so this one should be even better on 2s which means i can take all my packs 3s and 2s for a good long flight....if the wind stops blowing, i was just hovering into the wind today, i love doing that, that and high alpha on this one.

Foxy,

I had the same servo throw issue on my last F-22. Turns out the hinges on one side were binding somewhat and the servo did not have enough power to move them as far as they other side.

I've never really liked the packing tape hinge, so I've been doing standard hinges. But the plastic I'm using eventually cracks after so much bending. I've just picked up a roll of Blenderm and will try that. It's supposed to be super sticky and won't peel off the foam like packing tape does.
