I'm going to attempt version 2 of this plane this weekend. I just didn't get enough stick time on my first one. (its making one bedoozle of a chuck glider now).

I made some Side-$ today the wife doesnt know about. Thinking about trying out some better glue and a kinkos-copy. This is the motor I used on my hot glue -22 raptor.

Thinking about going with a 5 inch prop this time with the same motor.

(Plan on checking elevon direction before maiden too)

Women absolutely, positively do NOT need to know what/how much money we spend on with this hobby! After all, we don't ask them how much they spend on make up, hairdos, manicures, etc, do we? Actually, it may interest you Guys to know they spend more on all that crap in 6 months than we do on our hobby all year! Marty

I know you already have that motor on hand, but at such a low Kv (1300), you're just not getting as much "umph". You really should look at something with a higher Kv rating, anywhere from 2100-2500kv.

As for the glue, go to Michael's or Jo-Ann's and get Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced Adhesive (or if they have Beacon Foam-Tac, get that instead, but I think it's still too soon to see that in stores yet). Apply a thin layer to both sides of the parts, press together and pull apart a few times, the press together for good. Sets in 20 minutes, cures in 24 hours. Great glue!

Ha ha! My wife uses Mary Kay. And she also has about $10K tied up in glass beads (for making bead jewelery). She doesn't say anything about what I spend on RC.

I bought this to use for foam several weeks ago. Seems to do ok if you let it dry for a couple of days. Anyone else try it?

Do you know what brand that is? Never seen or used it before.

EDIT - Never mind, found it on the HL site. Looks like it should work fine.

fraggin,

Your PM box is full. You'll need to empty some of it before you can receive any more PM's. Here's what I was going to reply to your statement about the Park 450 motor:

Right, it works best in tractor (motor mounted to front of plane) and a big prop (9" to 11"). Once you start going down in prop size, performance drops dramatically.

I think I'm going to the LHS too and see if I can find a higher KV motor.

Those higher Kv motors are typically hard to find in an LHS. But look for something in a 22mm can size.

I impulsivelyl bought a KMS 31/21 1750Kv...Brushless Motor It's 51g and ESC.

The guy that sold it to me showed me a 24" Balsa f-115 with one installed and it had unlimited vertical.

Ok. After doing some reading, I'm a little bit more confused now... But I have teh 28" plans and the 18" plans and some 5mm epp and need to know which air frame would be better suited for my kms 31/21 motor.

I have a 20Amp ESC, and a 6x5.5 prop. I plan on running a 3s 650mah lipo.

Should I go with the 18" version or the 28"?

I successfully flew the 18" on a blue-wonder motor and a 5x4.75 prop with 10 amp esc. (just not aerobatics)

From the current plans, the 6" prop won't fit the 18" plane. You only have just over 5" to work with in the prop canyon.
