Swimmer,

I'm using Thunder Power, but the Hyperions are good also. I have them in 450mAh, 550mAh, and 850mAh. They are both rated at 25C.

Assembling my 14 inch wingspan F22 and noticed the GWS 4 inch prop is not only too long for the slot, I realize the slot has to be longer, it also sticks past the sidewalls. It has been mentioned to pry the sidewalls apart for prop clearance. Does the prop have to be clipped shorter to stay within the sidewall area?

Oops...let me answer my own question....The prop I used to measure is a GWS 4530. The 4025 will fit the area just fine with just a little pry on the sidewalls.

Do you have a link for this battery? I'd like to check it out.

Pat,

I've got several Rhino 3S 610 mah (41g) batteries I use in another foamie. Do you think the 14" could handle this weight?

Sure, no problem. I use 850-1100 in the 18.8" version, so 610's should be OK.

Gents,

The 610 bat may wind up sitting in the prop slot to balance. It'll be close.

I'm about to the point in assembly I can check CG. I'll let you know where the 610mah battery has to be placed. No problem getting additional batteries but would like to use what I've got before investing in more.

F22 Maiden Flight

Just got back from the maiden flight(s) of my 18.8 F22. WOW !!!!!!!!!!! What an amazing airplane!! First hand launch I had way too much power and managed to nose it into a soft wheat field. Minor damage to the nose but nothing major. Broke loose the battery mount but not to be undaunted I taped the battery in and gave it another toss. Less power this time and the F22 with the 3S 800mah battery climbed stately into the blue sky. Once I made a couple circuits got brave and did a full power climb, it would have went out of sight, rolls, loops, power dives and high speed passes were easily accomplished. When ready to land did very soft and slow high alpha landings. To say the least I am impressed for the small investment that gives such a wonderful flying plane. I saw a guy watching from a ways off and he came to look and watch. He was very impressed with the simplicity of the F22 and its speed. Hope I can sleep tonight with this grin on my face. Again...WOW!!!!

Congrats on the maiden!

I never cease to be amazed at how well this little plane flies, and I always get hounded with questions about it at every show. It's my best seller for a reason.

It's definitely one of my favorites!

Have you ever tried adding a Kline Fogleman step or two to the wings?

I never have. On these small ones, a KF airfoil probably wouldn't make a noticable difference.

14" ws cg

I've got my 14" WS F22 about ready to fly but cannot find info on CG. Would it be proportionally the same as the larger models? I'm looking at this model and can't wait to get it out to fly. If it is half as much fun as the 18.8 WS I'm in for a really fun time! Thanks for any info on the CG.
