high vs low wing models
For similar models (motor, wing area, etc) which flies best low or high wing models.
If I have a high wing plane and want to convert to low wing should I change the power train?

It very much depends on what you want your finished airplane to do. High wing aircraft have the center of lift from the wing above the center of gravity and as a consequence have greater stability (all other factors being equal). The low wing aircraft having the C/L below the C/G creates a less stable but typically more manuverable airplane. As far as power train is concerned, the motor is to overcome drag and/or weight (when vertical). Again, all drag factors being about equal and the weight being about the same, you should not have to change the power system coverting a high wing airplane to low wing. As a side note, typically a plane designed as a low wing will have better performance all around than a high wing airplane that you cut up and make a low wing plane out of it. For instance, a low wing airplane can have shorter landing struts well out on the wing which makes ground handling better with less weight than a high wing airplane trying to get the same L/G width by extending the L/G further out. IMHO sell the high wing plane and get one about the same size and weight with a low wing and move the old power train to the new plane.
