aaah, great timing Rick! here is a pic of the new paneled sails, whole buncha different rigging, tho. the sails were made by a friend of mine, Dennis Desprois, the 2010 national seawind champ, along with many, many national championships. ergo, he can make a sail.. when I had told Steve Lang what I was doing, he laughed also, but, he is sending some unconventional parts too..Rick is much more of a typist than I, he can give you all the what to break, what to fill, etc. later.

Man, those sails look mighty fine! They look like they were born to be there. What I can see of the revised rigging, it looks nice, and may actually work.

John, the pictures you sent me are a bit dark and fuzzy, or maybe it is me. Did you add the SS leader and turnbuckles yet? I can't tell in the photos. Ops, I spilled the beans on that one.

I am thinking I may be speaking to Dennis very soon to order those a set of those beautiful sails, on their looks alone.

We are having to endure our own winter weather here. I think
the high here yesterday only got up to 75*, and we are expecting
a even cooler weather and maybe some rain this week.

I had to wear my warmest pair of shorts.

Late news..a while back I had mentioned getting some lead, and changing the keel shape. that failed for the most part. so, being Italian, and from Chicago, I went to see my good friend Joe, who owns the local Italian funeral home, and acquired what is used in Italian shoes for proper burial..
Now, I can CNC the shape I'm told I need on the Titanic, here.( see pic..)

Seriously, as I have said before, I'm not a sailor, dont know if I ever will be. but, what I can do is take this inexpensive, decent sailing boat, and try to improve its looks, and its sailing ability inexpensively. to make it more fun.

I take my hat off to Crash, and all the other experienced, good skippers out there. hope I at least provide you guys with a good laugh.. a few more portholes will be added, as soon as my co- conspirator sends em to me..

The paint work on the keel really adds to the overall appearence of your boat. It might be worth a few key strokes to share with us. the details of how you were able to get paint to stick to the keel. Many have tried that unsuccessly due in part to the of the weid surface or type of plastic it is made from. The color is perfect too!

I think with the Walrus custom sails, the matching keel paint, new graphics and the nifty work to the cocpit area, the boat is coming along nicely. I know there are a few more touches in the works, and I am sure the thread followers well be waiting to see them.

Crash, the cement takes to long to harden, and it will come apart in water, some.


Rick, to paint on the type of plasic this uses, you have to clean it ultra well, then use a etching primer made for plastics, available everywhere, cause so many cars are plastic fendered today. sand the keel well, 3 light coats of the primer, go mix the paint to match, paint, clear, done.

FYI - Today is Chidago's birthday. I heard on the news a few minutes ago there was another big "Chicago fire" but this one wasn't started by a cow kicking over a lantern, it was from all the candles on his birthday cake
