I see that as all good. Nothing wrong with the AMYA. The more exposure the better.

Here is my two cents to the AMYA Regatta discussion.

I look at the situation in two ways.

1. This is the 2nd Nirvana National Regatta being held. Yes, its only the second, but this little boat has come into its own, come a long way and is making great strides in sales, marketing exposure etc. Much of this is due to the networking, open discussions, mutiple levels of exposure, word of mouth, the list goes on an on that many on this thread and others located around the world have done.

Lets not lose site of the excellent marketing opportunity and exoposure this could potentially provide to the boat. Being a AMYA event and exposure in the Magazine, to me, is a great thing.

Last year we have seen many boats discontinued, Seawind and many others. Our Nirvana continues to show solid growth. This says volumes. Yes, it is a very good value for the money. It is an excellent boat right out of the box that requires little of no addtitional upgrades to be out on the water enjoying this hobby that many of us are obsessed with. No it is not designed nor positioned to compete against IOM, EC12 etc etc. It is positioned nicely and has a great opportunity for growth.

Many of the boats discontinued most likely, will not come back out on the market.
We should do everything we can to try to capture the market share of those persons that want to get into the hobby that may have purchased a SeaWind or other brand and get them on board with the Nirvana and continue to grow the numbers.

Quite possibly, having the AMYA attached to this years regatta would show people thinking about getting into or people already involved in this hobby the Nirvana is a viable product with excellent support and the group is organized and going forward when others are being discontinued.

2. Just because the event would be AMYA sanctioned (or whatever) should not deter people from participating. Just because people choose not to join an organization, big deal.

With Nirvana sales continuing to grow, we should utilize this opportunity to locate and identify all that have purchased a Nirvana and encourage them to come out to play and have a good time. Dust that thing off and get it wet. You may like it.

Thats all from point of view across the pond!

You guys have a great night, my day is just starting.

David

Near 70 today so got a few Nirvanas out in Asheville, pics not very good, but at least it is visual evidence that we are still afloat in the mountains.

Yes nice pics...this isn't the lake the Nationals will be held is it?

Guys...color me onboard with AMYA too...as long as the event is open to all legal Nirvanas and everyone has the same chance to place, just like last year.

I still think we need our own Chevrons...

I agree with what David and Rick and John and others have said.
If it's open to everyone, AMYA members or not, it's all good.

The little Nirvana is starting to make it's mark.
Right on!

Are you listening Megatech?

In keeping with our policy of an occasional rabbit trail, I wanted to share my newest toy - I have been wanting to learn to fly Heli's and found a deal on line on tiny little starter "toy" and the price was so cheap, I had to get it. Came complete with radio and built in rx and charger.
For the price $14.00 total I couldn't pass it up! I just saw the same one at Hobby People on sale for $33.95 plus shipping and tax.

This one is a 2 channel and is really hard to fly, wants to spin. Looking at some 3.5 channel models which should yield more control! May contact the seller to see if this is normal.

It actually flys quite well for the price $14.00 total! I just saw the same one at Hobby People on sale for $33.95 plus shipping and tax. So hey, such a deal!

It's fun, can fly it in the house, carefully, better out side. I think I have the bug now So may be it wasn't such a good deal

If you have one of the 6 or 9 channel Flysky protocol transmitters (HobbyKing or Turnigy) then this 4ch single blade fixed pitch is the best helicopter bargain at US$24 delivered (see the WLToys v911 forums). The brick is an excellent basis for a indoor or parkflyer plane too. See the Quads too.

On Topic, my Blue Bird BMS-630MG and cheapo Tower Pro MG946R servos came from HK this morning so I will be able to get my new Nirvanai up and running this weekend and report on comparative merits of these sail servos.
