Ya, Creams "Badge" is a great song and I'm amazed Youtube "Police" didn't snag it off the viddy for me! As for 'gators, they tend to shy away from us humans! The Nirvana sailboat now is the proud owner of a AR6100e and works flawlessly! One more Tx stuck in the closet! Additionally, the stock "Megatech" sail servo is weak at best and is giving way to the HRC32645S Hitec HS-645MG High Torque Metal Gear Servo S/JR/Z! Here is another viddy of the "Swamp Dawg"! Push ahead to the 6 minute mark for the airboat!
All the best! b |

Possible note of interest? Some ABS does better in sunlight than others. Depends on the formulation. Knowledgeable manufacturers paint their ABS boats or recommend painting them to prevent UV attack. The yellowing is pretty much a cosmetic thing and unless a boat is left out in direct sunlight for an extended period time, there will be very little structural damages. Over time the material can become brittle from over exposure to the sun.
The particular ABS my Tamiya 40EX was made of is very sensitive to natural light. It yellowed while sitting out inside the original owner's home exposed only to indirect sunlight, so I am going to paint it for cosmetic reasons as well to protect it from any future discoloration. Another boat I know of that does the same thing, is the Kyosho Beneteau - which was build around the same time period as the 40EX - boat were Japanese products. Kyosho suggested painting their Seawinds - most of those I have seen have been painted. I am sure there are more that weren't - not heard of a yellowing or discoloration issues on those boats. Nirvana's are painted with a durable paint the holds up quite well in the weather. I have had a number of Nirvana's over the years, all three colors, some were painted well, another not so much. Guess the guy painted that one had a bad night My current blue Nirvana has a very good paint job - I plan on this one staying in my fleet for a long time. The Yamaha RTW came with a really good paint job and is holding up quite well. The hatch cover was not painted - it matched the white deck paint, but I can see some color change since it was new. I may half to paint it a year or two. Fiberglass is, in my opinion is a better material for making boats - they are likely to be heavier, but the fiberglass boats are more durable, more UV stable, easier to repair if needed etc. It is a bit more labor intensive done right - if you guys could all get a peek at the Fairwind lll's finish and lay-up you'd see what kind of quality work can been pumped out of a Japanese toy factory. My power boats are fiberglass, as is my Fairwind. The Seawind (painted) the Fortune 612(painted), Nirvana (painted), and my Yamaha's are all ABS. My V32 is Polystyrene (painted) and a wooden deck. Luv them all! ABS is such a practical all around material it is the logical choice for most of the companies making RC boats it is their first choice. I really don't mind. If you are a class racer, the boats will all be the same so, really it is a non-issue. Just sayin............... Boomer
