John heres the one I wear when I run my lobstah boat at our weekly scale club sails. We don't have any rools except to have good fun and fellowship and we picnic at the pond once a month.

In reading all the input from everyone regarding the N, everyone makes excellent and valid points. Let's not forget that at the end if the day, what it really boils down to is personal preference.

We a Mft boat with rules and guidelines. Any changes to the boat have a procedure. We all know that.

It is our personal choice if we apply the N or anything else. If it is approved or not, the final decision whether to apply anything to your boat comes down the owner.

We can all look back thru all the many pages of this forum and see how each of have personalized our boats. Many have changed things on the boats that are set up in the rules because of personal choice ie. servos, sails, etc.

Where I am going with this is, if it is approved, it is your choice if you want to add it or not.

To me it is not an issue of someone one or not or someone doing something because of refusal to accept. We all know Chi is the secretary and many of the board/committee members and they will always keep the best interest of the boat first and foremost.

Just some food for thought.

David

The N

I agree with CC, and I have one of those "N"s on my sail at present.
Why:
Because it looks good, it helps to identify the class, and it's easy to cut out from a piece of black airplane trim sheet (it's all straight lines, unlike our number font).

I have nothing against Mr. Leathers, all this drama came before my time here.
I don't even know him. There is nonetheless a lot of helpful info on his/their website about the Nirvana, some of it duplicates ours, some doesn't.
I've never been one to cut off my nose to spite my face, so I have availed myself of some of the data there.

I think John is doing a great job as class secretary, and I like the cut of his jib, I have come to know him a bit, and I consider him a friend from afar.
(Glad he is still with us BTW)

I did reduce mine to 2 1/8" though (total height including the underline), because the 3 1/4" size just looked way too big. Barely fit on the top of my sails!
If the bigger size becomes a hard and fast rule, then I'll change mine to suit.

Like sound sailor, I will probably never sail in a sanctioned race anyway, being sort of isolated from any Nirvana groups way up here, and the length of my remaining life being WAY shorter than that which has gone before.

LSS, I like it!

addition "But, Crash is one of us.."

Does that mean Pappy and I are outsiders? [/QUOTE]

I think what John meant is "But Crash is one of us too"

Thanks for pointing that out jp, might have missed it otherwise - all this discussion over one letter makes me pleased I do not own a Nirvana!!! 25 letters to go.....

Any info about on your rescue boat? How is it used? What is under the "skin"?
