Dismantled Nirvana

I was given a used Nirvana. It is all taken apart and most servo control lines are missing. I need a rigging diagram if anyone has one available.

The way it is threaded and rigged is a little bit of a mystery.

If you look through the countless photos of properly rigged Nirvanas on this thread, you should be able to determine what is wrong and what might be right with your boat's rigging.

I also attached a Nivana owner's manual which shows the set up. If you post a few pictures as Chidago suggested - we can see what you have there.

See pages 5,6 and 7

Fleets?

I suppose there probably is no fleet in Oklahoma City? I haven't seen any RC boats here. It is a Mecca for full sized sailboat racing (Lake Hefner) though.

I can do single time trials until I get fleet started. Is there an official way to start fleet?

I mean, is there some official authority who oversees fleet development and assigns fleet numbers?
In full size racing, there is always some association trying to control everything. You get a call from a lawyer if you try to organize on your own.

The Nirvana looks so cool on the kitchen table. Thanks for the manual.

You are probably right that there will be someone who wants to manage and regulate - seems to be the way of the world!!

However, I suggest you should just go sailing for a start... getting a few sea miles up is great experience and also a lot of fun....

Re starting a fleet - if you are sailing in a public location, chance are that someone will show up and start asking questions within a few minutes usually.

Offer them a steer of the boat if you are comfortable to do so - they will be hooked in no time!

Also have on hand some info on where to get a similar boat and some idea of how much it costs... once you can get a sailing buddy the rest will come with time...

You are in a big city (over a million says Wikipedia) so there is sure to be someone interested.... go for it - you can be the "founding father" of your local fleet!!!

The 3 must do's to start a new club are:

1) Good location, easy access, lot's of traffic
2) Same time each month, week etc.
3) Informational handout about boat/club

Letting someone try the boat works very well too.
You will also need a boat rescue plan at some point...
