Let see if I can step in it again....

I thought that the next regatta was still up in the air...just that it was being tossed around as a possiblity at Ashville this fall?

I agree that the commitee should making the decision, but at the same time there are not a lot of clubs volunteering to do one either.

The one thing that bothers me about another one so soon is that it is in the same year...so what will this one be called if held in the fall... The 2012.2 National Championships?

We need to settle on a time of year and stick with it...be it fall or spring. Both times have good and bad points....and obviously from this last one you never know what to expect weatherwise. We've messed with the planet so much we could get another scorcher or snow...who knows...

The Asheville/Black Mountain group talked about APPLYING to hold the next national but I think they are over the idea. I agree the committee should decide, but they do have to find a club willing to host, don't they? I think Asheville/Black Mountain has had second thoughts, I know I would prefer another club have the pleasure of hosting this event.

Just some food for thought.

Many of us on here also sail other boats. How do other boats host regatta's?

The seawind group has one per region each year. I believe there are five regions then at the end they hold a national event to crown the national winner.

Nirvana owners are spread throughout the country and as we saw this year, it is hard to expect distance travel for many due to time, cost etc.

I believe a system like this could possibly work if, (IF), we can get Nirvana owners active in participating and set up some form of regionalization and go from there.

I know just in my area, Greenville SC, Asheville NC, Fort Mill SC, Hilton Head SC all have active groups. With the exception of Hilton Head, the others are within about 1 1/2 hours from each other.

Many of the retirement communities have yacht clubs with many members that are very active.

Just some food for thought.

If this is something that is of interest, I would volunteer to assist in the organization aspect of this.

It would somewhat force the Class to have an "Official" website that is the center of all info. A source for all communication etc.

What are the thoughts out there?

Before any confusion starts, it will be decided by the committee.

Which clubs would like to host a NATIONAL event, need to make us aware, with projected dates, for us to evaluate.

The class races will not be a free for all.

And, as long as I am Sect'y, it will not be held at leathers club. take that to the bank.

Boomer,

Do you own a ProBoat Serenity? If so what do you think of it?

I moved the shrouds to the 17 inch mark and also put an eyelet near the front of the jib and fixed that attachement to the forstay point. Wing on wing speed seemed to be the equal of other boats and I did think I was able to point closer to the wind and also had less weather helm. Don't think I will mess with it anymore as it seems the equal of any boat I've seen and now need to work on the skipper.
