Orange scuff marks!

You'll do fine.
Keep the pointy end going forward, and keep the H... away from the "Eagle"

P.S. Of course I mean "Hull"

Has anyone sucessfully eliminated or nearly neutralized the weather helm in a Nirvana?

Over the past few weeks, I have been working on the boat in an attempt to reduce the weather helm especially when the wind starts rising. From reading tuning articles, the first option seems to be moving the mast forward ... not an option with our boats. The next option seems to be raking the mast forward ... somewhat doable I thought by simply adding tension to the jibstay to pull the mast forward.

This past weekend was the first sail with the changes. By the time I reached the pond in the last morning, the wind was very light. The Nirvana was barely moving and actually exibited a lee helm tendancy. Success!

Or so I thought. When the breeze started freshing slightly, that old weather helm crept back in. It wasn't even a strong breeze either. Heh.

So ... thoughts?

That's why I gave up on all the adjusting...you get it right for one condition and your crap for the next...I just set it neutral and go with it. If a boat is a little faster on one part of the course, I try to make it up on another or wait for them to make a mistake. If they don't make a mistake and win...hey good for them...the better skipper/boat setup won...

I'm not complaining about the boat by the way. I just love tinkering and the Nirvana already sails well enough.

I got the chance to sail the lime green Nirvana last Saturday. It handles better than mine which tells me I'm probably messing mine up. Heh.
