Bill the same applies for these boats....I let out on the main/jib to dump the wind off the sails as needed.

The conditions were such that most times a tack was not possible unless I had a lot of speed going into it. I usually couldn't quit get through the tack and had to fall off, give rudder, open the sails and jibe down wind instead with the resulting brutality of the boom slamming from one side to the other. That is how the jib hoist broke...I'm pretty sure...

I noticed one thing in that 1st pic today of the jib hoist....look at the bow in the back stay....that indicates a lot of slack in the stay after the hoist slipped....that's bow not bow...lol

Nice pics of the boats. really like the rag boat. Just need a barge now.

mini mod

The Nirvana rigging is somewhat sloppy around the boom vang.
So, I added one 0.9mm plastic spacer and two 0.3mm stainless steel shims.
Clearance over the keel insert is tight but sufficient:

That is a much better picture than the one on the fly bridge. Just wondering how long the photographer had you holding your breath?

Not too bad for an old guy! I guess all that good Italian food is not as bad for you as my wife tells me.

Nice to see the CG boat in the water - Seawind is lookin' good too! Hoping I get mine painted this week.

Luv all the pictures! Thought I share a few of my first Seawind - serious winds this day. Did very well. Had to dump some of the wind in the 2nd picture.

Busy day at the pond

No better way to celebrate Columbus Day than sailing!
The pond was busier than usual today: Besides my Nirvana, there was a Vela, another 1 Meter (not formally introduced), and a Paradise straight out of the box. To make it interesting there was also a submarine hunter. a small gunship and a massive destroyer-type. Lots of action. Then, the speed boats showed up. I was waiting for a chance to yell out "Sailboat has right of way!", but everyone behaved. We (the sailboats) even looped around the speed boats' area of operation if we needed to get to the other side. Great time! Too bad I didn't have a camera.
