Any Electric Flyers in or around St. Louis

I've been trying to find other electric flyers in and around St. Louis, but we seem to be a gas flying town only. The hobby shops here are oriented almost strictly for gas plane hobbyists. It would be nice to have a small group to fly with occasionally when the solitary parkflying gets old. I'm recruiting some friends of mine into the hobby, but there must be other St. Louisans out there that have realized the benefits of electrics.

Hey Barry,
I live in Florissant and also belong to the Boeing
Club. Also I'm the Steve from the Steves Hangar
website mentioned above. There are quite a few
e-flyers in the Boeing club and we have a fun-fly
every year just for electrics. Contact me off list
if you want.

I'm in Columbia. There are 6 of us here. We could probably all get together for a fly-in. Are there any large indoor sites in StL, like a soccer field or driving range?

VWtechie, You'll have to come to Jeff City sometime when the wind isn't blowing and fly from our 40x600 pavement...

Club President Shaun Zimmerman and I, (Rick Taylor) both fly electrics....

I've got a Zero, and several 757 glider conversions flying including a 4edf-50 one...

I went to the fall Boeing meet and had a ball there... I won't miss any more of them that's for sure...

I'm out here too!

I live in O'Fallon, MO and lately I do most of my flying at the Boeing Field north of St. Charles. As noted above we had 2 E-fly events at the Boeing field in 2002 and will probably do the same in 2003.

I'm flying park flyers up to 40 size conversions.

Are the Boeing events open to visitors? I'd drive down for something like that. Just need to know when they would be held.

Glad to see that there are some electric flyers in and around St. Louis. I was beginning to feel like the Maytag repair man. I've only been flying for a couple months, so I look forward to meeting with all of you at the next fly-in and having a chance to learn from some more experienced flyers.

Yes. Visitors are welcome and encouraged. It's best to watch the Events area for the announcements of the Boeing E-Flys. For general reference we'll try to have one at the end of May or early June and then again in the fall. I try to schedule around the E-fly held in Springfield, IL so we don't have a conflict.

Brad,

Who sponsors the E-fly in Springfield, and when is it held? Is there some master list of E-fly events in Missouri and Illinois, or does one just have to know about these things. If there is such a list, I would really appreciate seeing it. If not, perhaps we could construct one so that everyone in Missouri and Illinois would know about the close by events.

One other thing - am I right in assuming that to participate in one of these organized fly-ins you need to be a AMA member?

Thanks.
