Multiplex EasyStar 2008 A discussion of anything EasyStar and sometimes more
Hi and welcome to the thread Multiplex EasyStar 2008
The Easystar threads have now been running since 2003, and in each year they keep on growing and growing bringing in many new guy's (and girls) into this wonderful hobby.
A big thanks to Alex for doing such a great job on the 2007 thread, it was contributed by 389 members and had over 10,975 replies, which probably makes it one of the most popular RCGroups threads ever, surely that says something about this fantastic plane.
The Easystar is without doubt my favourite plane. Its certainly the best plane to start out with in RC, but also has that special something that keeps the more experienced pilots hooked. You only need to read through the previous threads to see that so many of the regular guy's are still contributing with their Easystar knowledge since the plane first came out back in August 2003.
Many people have taught themselves to fly with the Easystar, its an excellent plane for beginners, being not only very forgiving when flown but easy to build. There's the ARTF and RTF kits available. The ARTF needs around 3-4 hours build time, whereas the RTF version is near enough ready to fly straight out the box, just charge up the batteries and your good to go, it really is as simple as that. Once flown, the Easystar bug will soon set in, and it doesn't take long before you realise just why this plane is popular.
As Brandie mentions in the 2006 thread (I couldn't put it better myself)...
"From time to time you will see other "off topic" items come up. From the weather where I live is..., to I am getting married tomorrow and I..., to I am thinking about this other plane and I am wondering... That is because this forum has become like a large family.
So come and join in on the fun.
Welcome to the family, the family of EZ owners".
A big thanks to everyone who put my name down to start off the 2008 thread.
Lets make it a good one.

ARTF Kit contents
Fuselage, wing and tail panels, PERMAX 400/6V motor and propeller, full small

RTF Kit contents
The EasyStar RTF version is supplied with the following components
installed or included...
ZEBRA 3 FM 3-channel transmitter
ZEBRA ZR 105 SF receiver
2 x Tiny-S servos
MULTIcont X-08 speed controller
NiMH 6/AA fl ight battery
CG 207 12 V automatic fast charger
Just one of the great thing about the Easystar, is that it will take any modification thrown at it. The most common upgrade is installing a brushless motor and lipo battery, but here's just a few more that have been done over the years..
* rudder enlargement
* wheels for road landings
* lights for night flying
* transformation into a hotliner
* brushless motor (Mega 16/15/4 & APCE 6x4 prop makes a good upgrade )
* twin motors
* vectored thrust motors
* rocket power boost
* parachute drops
* aerial photography
* aerial video
* twin boom (P38 style)
* swept wing
* edf powered

I've only been an EZ* owner for a month or so but the info I've gained from the 2007 thread has been eye opening. Never content, I've ordered the new Easy Glider Pro from Germany Something else to build and fly in the new year
Happy New Year when it comes Guys or even if it has gone now for some of you

happy new, everytime i'm in the hobby shop and see some begginer asking whats the best trainer or looking at some warbird i say "dude, the easystar is the best trainer ever,you can do a gazillion things to it and you never ever get bored with it after 500 flights, get one, you wont regret it, most people want a slow stick( way to slaow to be a real good trainer) or some fragile cub. and then they see my dad and I's brushless easystar . i love instructing low air time easystar pilots and showing off , the easystar is a truly, great..plane.
just my testimonial of the EZ

I'm a bit bummed.....I recieved an extremely generous gift certificate for my LHS for christmas, but with having to entertain guests through new years eve, I couldn't get to my well stocked LHS sooner. Finaly got a chance today and they didn't have an easy star in stock . so I had them order one for me. I'm completely new to the easystar saga, never flown an RCplane yet, I purchased a dragonus heli last febuary, but still don't have all of the electronics yet, spent about $700.00 to buy the heli,radio,batts,motor,esc,charger,power supply and I still need to spend about $200.00 more for a gyro and tail sevo (i did hover it a couple of times with cheap gyro and junk servos, but decided to shelve it until I have better equipment)......so I got sick of looking at this thing sitting on the shelf and decided to get an inexpensive plane. last month one of the new planes on my pheonix sim was the easy star, started flyin it and really enjoyed it even made a brushless sim version......now I'm hooked, started searching for more information on this plane and got lost in all the threads here on the easy star,I think I have read the threads for over 10 days and still haven't found the end of any of them yet!! Anyway, you ezstar guys seen like a big family, so I'm going to force you to adopt me into the family. like I said, really haven't flown anything yet, hovered my heli a few times and have had two flights on my MS composit swift 2, successful, but rough landings, so I'm completely new at this and will have alot of questions. I plan on going brushless/lipo right from the start, I will post some info on the equipment I currently have tomorrow to see if any is suitable for the easystar. anyway, sorry for the long,basicly useless post, it's just past midnight here in Chicago and I have had to much champain with brandy & eggnog chasers.......it sounds like a bad combination.........but trust me....it's good...........looking forward to being an ezstar owner!!
