"Super" slow stick

Low quality video, but shows what can be done with a little cheapie 3 channel slow stick. Modified with LOTS of dihedral (so it will roll well without ailerons), and Hacker A20 12XL at 300 watts (yes, that's 300 watts per pound <G>)

Mass power is cool, mine has a bp hobbies 450 out runner in a gws '"E" gearbox 150 watts 11x4.7 apc. It needs about 8" roll out, but it's still a slowstick, at around 3/4 throttle the wings look like a seagull someone is shooting at- flapping like crazy! I laugh my butt off! It won't break though, as much as I try. It packs my camara good though.

OK here are a couple of dumb questions:

Are the rolls just from using the rudder? I am a beginner and it sure looks like tight rolls without ailerons!

How do you keep from ripping the wings off of the slow stick? The slow sticks I have seen have very weak looking wings on them.

Wow great looking flying! Looks like fun.

Rudder is a yaw control. Add dihedral and you get roll control from rudder. There are no ailerons, the rolling is just from rudder and LOTS of dihedral. The wing was glued together with some triangle stock in the middle to get the dihedral, and the aluminum tubes on leading and triling edge were re-bent for the extra dihedral. It flexes, but hasn't folded,..er,uhmmm,..... not yet at least <G>

I actually have some video of the Yellow Stick at SEFF. I was pretty darned impressed with it.

I found the Yellow Stick footage from SEFF but it is on the end of a Hodgehound at SEFF video. Uploading now and will post it as soon as it finishes. 175MB so it may be a while.
