I think I'm gonna switch my order to the Cermark Spitfire at a little bigger 71" wing. Look over at Scalefan's thread and he says that the bird flys better than anything else he owns, and thats saying something!

Well, there IS another alternative, if one REALLY wants a Top Flite 'Stang ARF:

As you can see: EVERY PART is IN STOCK! Just buy all the parts (for $350 or so?) and you can have it in the air in a week or so.

Good Find, but why wouldn't they put all the pieces in one box and ship it for $280???

Done with Top Flite, I'm going to buy the Cermark Spitfire Instead.

I'm with you redjem, i'm cancelling my order (which is paid for) and going with Brian Taylor plans from Bob Holman who is right down the street from me. I already have all the electronics for the TopFlite P-51 (ESC, E-Flite BL90, Robart air retracts, servos) so i'm sticking with a P-51.

See I could of just bought the kit from Top Flite and built it but I am already building a big project (100" Short Solent from Ivan Pettigrew plans] and I would like to be able to fly the plane this summer.

I thought I would take the easy way out and buy the ARF, strip it down and glass it. I didn't go with the kit because it would be a faster build for me to just strip and glass, like you said should've bought the kit and it would have been built already...hindsight i guess.

Well even though I said I was going with the Cermark Spit, I haven't done anything with it so, I might just wait it out. I read over in the thread on RCU that the delay was because of an faulty retract design, but I wasn't going to use the retracts anyway. Oh well, my anger is gone and I guess I'll just wait for the day where the huge box shows up on my doorstep.

Matt,
I'm in the same situation, i asked about the Bob Holman/Brian Taylor P-51 and was told the fiberglass fuse/cowl isn't being made anymore. So i'll just wait for my TopFlite to show up at the LHS. I still have all the servos, e-flite 90 outrunner, robart air retracts and air actuated wheel brakes...now it's sit and wait.

Matt,

If you dont want the Cermark Spit, then the Thunder Tiger 1/7 Sea Fury would be a good choice. I flew mine both last Saturday and Sunday and everyone just loves the looks. It's about the same weight and size as the Cermark Spit and it looks dynamite in the air. However, you will need to buy air up, sping down, retracts. Don't even think about mechanical because the wings are removable and are slid on over a carbon fiber wing tube.

Check out this video taken by Ethan, of the maiden flight, that is his voice you hear. The gear got screwed up so they didn't work for the video, it was my construction fault and it was fixed later that day.

Just got back from the Mint Julep Scale Meet and found out the good news: my order is being processed and will ship very soon (probably Monday).
I will have it in time for the WarBirds over Grande Ledge event, but probably won't have it ready to fly by then.
Looks like the guys at the Toledo show were right after all: they said mid May.

IT'S HERE! Mine finally arrived today (5/20/2008). HOPEFULLY, it will be ready to fly at the Grand Ledge (Michigan) Warbird Weekend (June 7~8).

Here is a link to build/ mods thread that I started:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7520206/tm.htm

I will be using an AXI 4130/20, Castle Creations Phoenix 60, 6S 5000 mAH 12C LiPo, 4 blade APC 14.5 x 11 4 prop.
