Another one bites the dust.

UH-1's buddy just smoked his A-4 motor. Wow - this seems to be more of a plague than a glitch.

What we have here is a poor QC situation from another overpriced Chinese motor. Its funny, the first batch of 2040 size motors I got were perfect, then things moved to China and I had 5 motors with shafts bent or ground off centre, 3 with end caps coming loose, 2 with shorted exit wires. No magnet issues though.
My thoughts exactly. I'll be sticking with lightflightrc's ARC motors.

Not to gloat too much but, I'm sure glad I glued in the stick mount to go pusher right off the bat.

Maybe I'll build my second with a 6904 and 16-15-2.

Could one of the guys who has flown the J-10 please post a photo of the battery area? I've looked through the manual but can't figure out how the pack is going to sit seeing as the canard servo seems to be in the batt tray. Does your pack interfere with the servo arm and linkage?

You will end up with the battery stuck as far back towards the tail as the battery can go and may even have to perform some minor surgery on it, in order to achieve the recommended cg.

Aren't you guys back at work yet? How about a replacement motor for those of us whose motor died due to thrown magnets etc?

You gotta be responsible for your qc and/or R&D in the proper glue to use for the magnet.

Thanks for the reply. There doesn't seem to be much room to move the pack backwards. Guess you had to rip out some foam behind the cockpit?

Hope you get your motor problems sorted out. I'm looking into getting a HET 2W.

Here is a photo of my battery installed. I have not installed the canard and its servo yet but their positions are shown on the photo. The canard joining rod is 66 mm in front of my battery. and the canard servo is 115 mm ahead of the battery.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the photo. I could not have imagined how far back the battery has to be pushed. I now understand what Chewy means by sticking the pack as far back as possible.

Did you manage to get the recommended cg with the batts like that? If the cg is forward of stock, then do you have any signs of it being nose-heavy?

If you managed the stock cg, how much ballast did u have to add at the tail?

Thanks for the pic. Does the pack rest on the servo and does it interfere with canard control? Do you velcro the pack to the walls of the batt compartment?

Stock CG as per recommended in the manual
No additional weight added
Parkjeff no there is a small balsa spar installed over the servo canard control arm so it does not interfere at all

How did you manage that? What kind of batts are you using? What is its weight? I couldn't get it anywhere near the stock cg without sticking the batts in as shown by Ken.

BTW, have you flown it? Any nose heavy tendencies?

Yes I have flown it about 15 to 17 times already
No nose heavy at all glides in nicely with a nose high attitude as matter of fact
I have no idea the batteries weight
3300 Mah
I did open the stock battery compartment to fit this battery but turned out I couldn't even put it there
