i have a weird issue with my rc cars... spektrum dx3s & sr3300t with 900mhz 500mw. i place the car outside and attempt to drive and the car just freaks out. with video tx off, the car drives fine. if i use the same vid tx in my plane (spektrum 2.4 as well) everything is fine...

Are u powering your vehicle and camera system on the same battery?

It's most likely direct interference between 900Mhz Tx and the servos.
You'll probably have to change the servos out to cure it.

Yep, 900Mhz can be a real spektrum killer.

There are filters you can get to put on the base of the 900mhz Transmitter antenna, supposedly to settle down the garbage that the 900mhz units spew out.
Never tried one myself, i dont bother with 900mhz anymore.

The car spektrum units wor different to the airborne spektrum units, maybe they are even more sensitive to interference that the air stuff.

If you can, try putting the Video Transmitter 100% directly above the 2.4rc spektrum receiver.
Stand the Vtx upright, and the antenna upright as well.
This will place your spektrum car reciever in the null of the video transmission, doing this works in my fpv planes, may be similar in your car, cant harm trying.

A friend had that problem, I remember him sayin somethin about filters but he used a seperate battery camera system instead of the filters. Couldn't hurt to try for a test.

hmm... i doubt its the servo (1 x hs56hb) as i haven't had any problems with hitec analog and 900mhz. its more of a general disobedience to all control inputs.

i've seen the filters and i guess thats a possibility. i have tried a few different antennas tuned for extremely low swr all with the same results. the stacked idea is something i hadn't considered yet... i'll attempt that next go round!

i wish i had the space for another battery... its just such a tight fit even before adding fpv gear! i put a torroid on the esc even though its not a switching bec. i'll try a filter on the power feed to the tx. i might need to consider going back &/or fm. its just such a small area to work...

You might need to add a toroid to every line going into the receiver. They're far cheaper than the 900MHz low-pass filter and should more or less fit on your truck easily. I agree with the others though that your battery arrangement will probably have to be resolved before you get much further.

Hi All.

While waiting for some new gear to build my nitro FPV project...

I built a little FPV tank from some old parts.
Another rubbish video:

The chassis has come from a little 1:32 scale infra red rc tank.
As its infra red it has virtually no range. The tracks are rubber and pull them selves off on any surface other than a polished one.

Ive taken the gear off the tank now and put it on a little rc subaru :
Its far more fun.

FPV RC car Subaru Impreza (2 min 45 sec)

The quality is terrible but i think thats just down to the camera.

I completely chopped the wiring for the tx and camera so there is only a couple of inches of it left.
Im now getting a better video signal than ever before.
Of course the chassis is now fully plastic!
I get a much 'richer' picture when i use a 12volt battery, but ive not got a light enough, or small enough one at the moment.
What do you suggest I use?
A 6 cell lipo?

Cheers
