Heyyyy you gave me an idea! DEMOLITION DERBY FPV STYLE!!!! But I rather have it with a bit of MAD MAX style, you know put sharp stakes at the front, back and sides of the vehicle, but cage the main gear for protection. Then see who can survive last in this gladiator sport.... oh yeah keep your legs off the ground

Damian: Yeah, there were some vibrations. I could still see where I was going. But it was nowhere as smooth as Crash's video. My suspension is way too stiff. Hardly any movement of the control arms at all.

I got ya well as you said before you could try and change the springs for softer ones. I would do that if I would be you, but don't make them to soft, it wont be too good either.

typicalaimster: No I would never do that lol With that we get range that is huge :P

Just finished my new car few minutes ago. it fits in the palms of my hands It is super! I couldn't wait and as soon as I finished I took it for a spin in the house. IT WAS AWASOME! I loved it! I was racing all over the house. I love it! I will take some pics tommorow and describe it more. Its late i'm going to sleep.

You guys are sooo gonna hate me for this... but I couldn't resist.... in case you have problems with your heart and you are an FPV flyer - DO NOT watch the below video. Not because of the content - because of the setup!!!!

Unfortunetly it was already dark by the time I completed the truck - so you get a night video. I had to strap a flashlight on the top of the truck to see ahead. Lucky the camera is also high sensitivity - when there is not enough light - it switches to black and white mode.

The video was recorded with the PV-500 at medium - 640x480 resolution, then edited by me. The uploaded version is mpg.

I'll answer the rest of the questons after - if there are any....

Enjoy:

Cool. FPV truck with OSD! Suggestion though... heat shrink your camera. I was getting a lot of debris in my car. It would not be good to have stuff rubbing on the bare board.

Gee, looks like i need to show you guys what a real truck looks like! I'm going to have to find a 40mhz radio for my LST2, since my friends and i use Spectrum's and Nomadios'. I guess i could try using airplane gear in it XD.

I'll see about getting some video in the next month or so. Gotta work out how to get the camera mounted to the rollbar securely, and the transmitter. Will need to sustain 100g's or so

See videos below:

RC @ BMX sweet jumps take 2 (6 min 3 sec)

only the first half is worth watching

RC @ BMX sweet jumps take 2 (6 min 3 sec)

Video's edited by my friend Glenn, camera work by myself and friend Nick.

I think the biggest problem is going to be combating dust on the lense, at this time if year you tend to generate MASSIVE clouds of dust and your car quickly becomes white. Gravel and such getting sprayed through the car may get to be a problem, i'm not sure the components on our OSD's could withstand the Gforces so i dont think we can put that in, the GPS would have a fit in any case lol.

Our cars are LST2's, heavily upgraded to be able to shrug off the abuse we give them. Engines in them are upgraded to the top of the line, all of us have modded engines for extra fuel efficiency and power. These 7-8kg trucks go 120km/h. 0-100km/h in about 2.5 seconds on grass - slower on gravel/roads because of massive wheel spin.

Ohhh I hate you Fully equipping your truck with stuff most of us dream of on our planes! Very cool Oxxyfx! I love it and yet again a great demonstration that Dragon OSD has more uses than just planes and heli!!!!!!

MARK: So what would Dragon with the GPS report to you every time your truck air borne? Also under all the cloud of dust, AH would be a fun feature Very slick driving PAL... you do hold a valid driving license right?

Oxxyfx, That was a cool video . With the Dragon OSD now can you head over to the corner store and pick up some groceries . You may need to tow a Red-Ryder wagon behind it though .

Probably that it has no satelite locks :P those gps units are rated to about 5G's, i wouldnt be suprised if landings were over 100G and turns more than 25 or so. Going from 35m/s up the track one way to 20m/s the other way in about 5 seconds is a lot of force. Can go from 35m/s to 0 if you lock the wheels up in about 6m.

Drivers license? Sure.. but we break the state and federal speed limit with these at the bmx track :P

If i can get myself a set of diff gears after christmas i should be able to FPV this in about 1.5-2 weeks

very cool Damian
an r/c car is very cool to ride around and it's challenging to make, it's harder than a plane because it's smaller, and you must find a solution for backup, lightning etc.
you can add infrared lightning on your r/c car and drive it in total darkness, no one see the car, but you will have clear picture in the goggle or tv like standard illumination. To try infrared illumination, try first by pointing any tv remote directly in the lens of the r/c car camera, you will see it blimp in the goggle. beam the remote in front of the car on the wall, you should see the wall lightning (in the dark of course). You can buy infrared led alone at radio scrap or local electronic store, you plug them in series, they work at around 2.5 volt, so you plug 3 in series for 7.5V aprox.(positive with negative pins). you can install a lot.

My night vision car project:

this webpage is old, I build this r/c car car 10 years ago. This car project lead me to flying r/c plane with camera and it evolve in the creation of this forum to help peoples create their own FPV project.

wow that is very cool! Thanks for sharing. Now I will have a perfect spy plane I might do this or not I will see. Do you think radioshack has the LEDs? If so I might do it and then go scarying people in the dark I will just need a small speaker on the thing and a mic as well since I don't have one. This would be cool

Imagine this. You are under a car and you see someone walk down the street. You move from under one car to another in total darkness When the person will hear your car they will stop and look. There is nothing there! Then you continue to folow them and you start speaking with a scary voice from under the car. They will look and when thaty won't find anything they might be frightened. Also if they will duck to see if there is something under the car you could shoot out from under the car and run away at 20++ mph

That would be cool, I might consider this
