Imagine that! When me and my partner got into this he had an emaxx, I had to go by one cause of him,,,(this is what we do to eachother),,,,we where using our 1/10 rock crawlers before that, but they didn't cut it in deep snow. Now I was increasing me house insurance to cover my hobby room too and you know I added up everything I put into my emaxx cause the insurance company wanted it all on video in order to cover any loss. It added up to 2300.00!!!!! I had no idea! 50.00 here 100.00 there, it adds up! I still need a few things too,,,,an IR camera is my next purchase. If you guys are looking for a cheap IR camera, geeks.com has em and the 38.00 one works nice, it's the one we used in the night snow run video I posted.

Yeah I might go with a sail boat again.. That or pick up an air boat and mount a big motor on it.

how about a motorcycle? I think that would be quiet cool, and with fpv you don't have to turn on the road constantly to keep it in sight

That will make a nice start to an all weather RPV,,,,bein water proof already,,,nice

What kind of batteries do you guys use with those emaxx trucks ? nimh, lipo mods, make your own packs ? the videos posted in this thread are pretty cool, I might get one

You can use LiPo's, just have to get the right speed controller for it.

I use two 2 cell 4000mah lipos to run the drill motors. One 3000mah nimh to power the 6 servos. and one 8.4v 900mah nimh to power the camera system.
I can get about an hour and a half of run time with my current set up.

You can use the stock ESC on Emaxx trucks, they are designed to run dual batteries. That's what I'm using

You added some kind of low voltage device for the batteries or you just time your runs to make sure the lipos dont get below 3v/ cell ? I'm guessing that the stock ESC does not have a low voltage cutout ?

Exactly, you can use the stock ESC. However most of those ESC's are used to NiCad's and NiMH's. You do not have a low voltage cutoff. I only know of one ESC that is designed for LiPO's. It's about $200.

Ok looks like the Robitronic speed controls dropped in price. Probably due to the release of their new speed control.
