That looks great. Thank you for posting. And a special thanks for posting the link to the pre-wired LEDs strands. That's exactly what I've been looking for to recommend to people who don't have the time or interest to solder up the lights themselves.

This is a plane called the Snowball. It is an EPP kit from crashtesthobby with LED lights. It has red and blue on the top and white on the bottom. You can see the lights through the EPP foam.

Here is a video. Sorry about the shaky hands it was shot on a small camera but still gives the idea.

Here's my scratch foamie "Night Owl ". An old-timer design that's slow and easy to fly at night.

That Christmas Tree is one of the best night flyers I've seen. Well done.

Would you please shoot some video of it flying? Looks very interesting. How does it fly?

I will try to. I only have a simple digital photocamera and the results filming in the night are not very good.

I made a flight before installing the lights. It behaves very well. All standard moves work well.
I have a Pogo (Convair XFY 1) which is very similar in size, so I knew what to expect.

Pointer for filming a night flyer: film at dusk

My friend and I shot a lot of night video last winter and found that the best time to film is dusk. The camera usually can still see the plane well enough for the auto-focus to work, yet the lights still show up pretty well. Usually 90% of the footage turns out, whereas when you're doing true night flying in the dark, about 90% of the footage doesn't turn out because the auto-focus on most cameras can't keep up.

Hmmm, the thought just occurred to me that maybe I should start a thread on this.

I think that would be a really good thread to start.
It's not easy to photograph or video RC models, and there's bound to be some talented amateur, or even professional photographers/videographers on RCG, who could improve everyones results with some good advice.

Day or night I take my camera off auto focus and put it on manual focus and then focus it for infinity. In most cases that is where the plane is anyway so the auto focus doesn't have to find that little spot on the horizon or against a blue sky. When it is close it is only a little out of focus but it isn't searching and annoying. The light meter is still on auto.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I can learn more from a movie than from a long explanation. I'm surprised how stable it is. Looks good in the air and a good landing makes it even better.
