but you need a microcontroller as they are addressable.

Open source Arduino code.

I've seen those strips.. but until now I'd only seen big clunky controllers.

I'd be interested in a more step by step tutorial on how to wire those up and what they're capable of. (The actual strips) Your buddy's demo looked great.

I'm not 100% sure I would jump on the color changing ones.. but it is very unique.

I have not used the strips, they are too expensive for me. But what I have created from scratch is the same thing essentially. There are a few tutorials on the arduino.cc website for controlling LED's. I just so happen to be using PWM over shift registers(74HC595) for the fading RGB effect. Since the strips are SPI, that means there are only 3 wires. Clock, latch and data (along with 5v+/-) Let me know what effect you are interested in (and your budget) and I would be happy to help!

Got in my "G.T. Power RC Simulated LED system" today. Havent had the chance to put them on the slow stick yet but they should look great! not quite as good as the LED strips on the radian but they will be cool none the less.

Night Flea

Hi Guys,
Here's a night conversion I did on my sons Hyper Flea. Works great, I think we can see it better at night than in daylight.
Will get some in flight shots when time permits...

Finally got to try night flying.

I tried a new heavy battery and my CG was a tad forward. Other than that, I'd say the flight was great!

Cheers,
Kev

Thanks for the complement, and for reminding me I never posted details on this thread. Here's the thread where I originally posted all the details of my spider:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...0#post14668027

After cutting my teeth with night flying, I've realized snappy high performance aerobats can become a psychedelic blur. I became disoriented coming out of high roll rate maneuvers twice during that flight, and the second time I was invertigo for a good 2-3sec under 50' AGL! It's fun and cool to watch, but I know it'll also eventually be the undoing of the plane too... if not that then one of those trees that jumps out in front of the plane at night might do it.

Cheers,
Kev

Ok guys...After tons of work by my buddy Ray and I...The GeoBat night flyer V2.0 is done!! 3 different light schemes on 3 brushed GWS esc's. The red and blue ring are on the levers of my 9303 and that gives them 9 levels of brightness. The 3 small rings are UV blacklight leds. Color changing, shape shifting, UV lights...All I need now is one of those laser pointer thingys...
Video to come...

I'd post a bunch of words to describe how cool that is, but it would get me banned for sure. So I will try the family-friendly version instead:

That is the coolest thing I have ever seen! Way to go, Ho-Jazz!
