New FPV Extra 300 coming...

I just ordered my next FPV airplane, here it is:

My new Extra will be equipped with one or two KX131 outside of the canopy over the pilot's head and a 500mAh 2.4Ghz TX just behind the camera and it'll be gyro stabilized on pitch and roll.

Do you guys know about any tool to change inflight the video between two cameras?

Video coming in 2 weeks....

All you need is some kinda switch that is connected to the video input of your transmitter and switches between the video output (usually yellow) line of your two cameras.

You could rig up a physical switch with a servo, or if you are into microcontrollers you could cook something up.

Those "speed control" servo setups that the RC car people use might work ok. It should have some kind of center post with swipes all set up for you.

Mechanical speed control is what I'm thinking of.

Something like this

I want one too!

The color scheme is a bit much though. I think I want a camo checkerboard on mine.

I do want an aerobatic plane with video in it. Whether I get to fly it FPV depends on who's at my field. That said, I still like the idea of shooting video from inside the airplane while I do aerobatics FPV or not.

Love the Extras, but I have to say my Funtana is a dismal failure as a small electric and I want to replace it.

What a killer plane!!! As for the video camera switching, I believe Thomas ( Mr.RC-Cam ) was working on a remote dual camera switch for that kind of application. I haven't been following much on that lately but last heard it was a top secret project during the beginning of summer for a buddy I know in Victoria, B.C. Canada.

I think Hobby Lobby has various colors of smoke bombs available.

It would be nice to have RC ignition on a smoke bomb so you don't have to waste it while climbing out.

I think any other form of smoke would probably use too much current. Burning lipos seem to give off a lot of smoke. but that gets expensive.

I have my skydiving smoke pods, but those toys are big as a shoe and smoke as a real Frecce Tricolori for a minute and are visible at 10 km, with a minute delay activation.. cool but too big...

Check Hobby Lobby. I think the stuff they sell was made for model planes.

Just curious, but what's the point of having smoke on a FPV plane? The point of smoke trails is so that people on the ground can see the planes path. But if you're flying FPV, and will be recording from that perspective, it seems a bit pointless. Please enlighten me though if you have other ideas.
