Exactly. Mini is MUCH easier to fly for a beginner. The full size takes lots of practice and you MUST start in a big open grassy field otherwise you'll crash it to pieces on asphalt.

The Mini XPV is better than the Mini SL, IMO. Its cheaper and easier to fly, reacts faster to the controls and doesn't feel as under-powered.

It's really silly to compare 'em... one's a 2ch, the other's 3ch.
The big one weighs easily 5 times what the little one weighs,
and carries 5 times the power in its battery.

They're in different categories.

Me, sometimes when I wanna ROG a plane, I do it at my nearest BBall court.

Broke nose of my Jet many times. But for AA/Xtwin micro plane, nothing is unfixable.

So I am still flying on asphalt area sometimes. Sorry for going a little off topic here.

I do. In fact I have no choice in the matter. Thankfully small planes can be caught for a landing. Not sure how I'm going to catch an XPV, RAD or Hydro-Fly. (ouch!)

Me too, but I have caught a unguarded sl at full throtle...that doctor was nice.

i fly my full size SL around my street all the time, makes for a really nice slow flyer if you hold the elevator stick back. I am always too lazy to walk 2 mins to the park hehe

I've had no luck with Mini Storm Launchers, all of them were bad.

I just picked up 2 more today, for a total of 5. Black ones, I wanted white but they only had one left and it was open-box...darn. However on both of these the Left motor sounds like it grinds and is much louder than the right. I will give them a fair shake but so far it does not sound promising.

I wonder if the 2007 models will be any better? I checked Target and TRU and they still are pushing 2006 everything..air hogs, jakks pacific, etc. Sad..sad...sad.

Yeah, I've had two Mini Storm Launchers. One crapped out after the first flight, but the current one works ok. They both didn't fly worth a darn, though. I even ended up stripping the decals and wheels off and the thing barely wants to stay in the air. And while it's up there, it wobbles about so much its embarrasing. A friend of mine got one and had the same experience. I'd say, if you are trying to decide between a Mini SL and anything else...get anything else. Even if it's a rock with wings taped on, lol.

The full-size SL is pretty decent, though. I only had mine for a couple of flights before one of the motors quit, but it was nice. I need to replace it, eventually...

Weird thing about the Mini Storm Launcher....

I can charge it till it indicates it's done... wait 10 minutes, and then put it on charge again and it goes on charge for another 20 minutes.

Not sure what to make of that. Don't want an exploding Lipo.

Also weird is that I triple charged one of them yet it only gives me about 5 minutes of driving it on the ground before the ESC shuts it off. I'm thinking that one is a dud.

i have owned both the mini sl was a disappointment, the motors were too week to carry it the batteries cut out to early and it had this uncontrollable wobble. the large sl however is one of my favorites it can back flip and even do short inverted flight. i love how its 3ch and its a blast to fly!
