Atomic delivers

A thin long box arrived containing my SE5 parts from Atomic.

Some damage to two of the fuselages (tails) and one of the tail plane sets, but easily repaired. I will be leaving them positive feedback since they did deliver on my bid.

It turns out the landing gear set includes the wheels, so I need to make some struts and a lewis machine gun and I have an SE5 complete (well 3 of them, ).

I have an unbuilt kit, but won't be able to scan them for a couple of days. You can always order some from E-Flite.

I looked in the Eflite site and the struts aren't listed as a spare part.

I am really looking into getting this plane...one question though. What motors are you guys using besides the E Flite stuff? To me its seems like $45 is too much for such a small motor. How does something like this look? http://www.nitroplanes.com/al2502brmo.html

Should I just look for a similar sized motor hitting 2200kv mark? I don't really understand how the watts and KV stuff works yet.

As long as you can reverse the shaft, that motor looks like a good substitute.

But it doesn't seem to come with a motor mount, so it might not be possible to reverse the shaft.

Pics. I cut off the wheel portion and place the remaining wheel halves each side on a 2-1/2" Mpi wheel. Tube through the 2 wheel halves and the Mpi Wheel tie the whole theng together.

Hey guys, do you think this Great Planes/Electrifly 2s lipo will fit in the SE5a?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMDM4&P=7

Its dimensions are 2.8" x 1.4" x 0.4". My main concern is the length; the recommended E-flite 430 battery is 2.15" long, and the Thunder Power 730 is only 2" long. This Electrifly is 0.65" longer than the E-flite, and that's a lot. However, I can get a good deal on it, which is why I'm asking. Thanks

It will work fine. You may have to extend the battery shelf with a piece of 1/16" balsa and some velcro but should work fine. I did this all all 3 planes.

I used the original gear on all 3. Cut the axle tubes to the maximum length and still get a wheel retainer on the axle. Then when you assemble the parts make them fit the tube as you have considerable flexibility in the plastic wheel parts for compression to the width needed.
