Build Log
San Diego build party at Oran's 29 DEC 2007

Hi,
This is an invitation to a build party at Oran's house the project will be to build several planes all will look very similar to the CR Turbo.

Saturday 29 December 2007

I will have the temples cut for the fuse sides and formers, I hope someone here will step up and volunteer to cut some cores.

I purpose a assembly line style format.
Arrive around 9 AM or sooner and each person will be assigned a work station.

I hope by the end of the day each person will leave with a built fuse with hardware and servos installed as well as a set of sheeted wing cores inside a food saver bag to be finished later.
I will buy most of the wood, servos, hardware and ply needed to complete the project. This cost will be split evenly and will be a requirement for attendance.
I am insisting that ALL who wish to attend have a camera and a promise that they will take and post a picture here in this thread when completed.

If you wish to attend please contact me through this thread and I will add your name to the list.

Build List.

I'd like to go- Need to check the calendar and get it reserved! Now that I'm an "expert" at wing sheeting via Rockbus' food sealer, I might be able to add some value to the production line.

Check the calander and I will hold your spot on the wing sheeting production line.

Checking my on-hand supply of balsa, I have enough for 12 fuses.

I think they are all going to be all the same WINGERONS WITH STANARD TAILS.
KISS principal.

I just finished a test of my hevey duty soldering iron and I can make the linkages with no problem at all.

I can cut cores. We need to decide on white or blue, and trailing edge stock or not. Is the original S3016 airfoil OK for everyone? I already have the templates.

Got the Balsa today.

The wings we be covered with 1 conunious sheet of balsa "no glueing strips together".
I think I have enough. What do you think?
Ward will be cutting the wings.
I will be getting the balsa parts together.

I was thinking of a group buy of servos. I can get these servos at a reducded rate (HS-645 MG BB Super Torq )as well as battery packs.
Who would be interested?

Oran-

I think that the group build, KISS, principle applies. If you want to group buy then we all pitch in and pay the total freight [exception being the receivers] and end up with 10 (or however many we end up with) identical planes to hopefully all fly in formation some day! But that's one man's opinion.

I'd love to get in on a discounted servo deal, but isn't a 645 a bit overkill or do the twisty wings create that much more torque?

well that's 2 for the servo deal, I will get quotes on the battery, elevator servo.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
KISS, identical planes, group buy and fly in formation some day!

Overkill, not really....besides a $37.00 servo for $28.25! and a $10.00 standard servo for about $7.50.

I will try and rough out a total cost of everything over the next few days and put it in the first post.
