Hodge Podge I

I took the wing from my foamy float plane ( which was scrapped due to getting too heavy and too soft from multiple repairs , I crash a lot ) the tail from a foamy flat out (which died from a fatal crash I still have the wing , maybe for Hodge Podge II), made a new fuse , stuck it all together for Hodge Podge I .

I will be putting her on floats naturally !

I got away from this project for a while , as I was building the S-M S65.

That is mostly finished and I will need a plane to get practised up on after the long winter hiatus , before I maiden the S-M S65 .

I installed the ESC and the Rx and the servos .

The rudder will be pull pull , the rest push pull.Aside from water rudders this is my first pull pull control try , so I thought I would try it on the rudder which I don't use very much anyway.

Next an old pair of floats from the "foamy float " plane.

Ok LAKE i'm gonna have to pick your brain for a while. You've inspired me. I live on a lake and have been flying for 3+yrs now. Got up enough confidence(sillyness) to give the water thing a go.

So what are your floats made of? I've got some 3/4inch blue foam. Thought about 2pieces thick and sand to shape. What plane are the landing gears from? Thought i've seen some plastic one's somewhere. Just looking at pics I thought about some light ply inbetween my foam pieces to make em stiff and have it stick up as yours is to attach to. That sound about right? What are you covering the floats with?

Thanks.

P.S. Nice plane, can't wait for the video.

See the red pete full fuse pete thread by springer. That's what I'm putting on the water. I HOPE NOT UNDER IT.

I made the struts from carbon fiber and epoxy , molded over a foam form.

These floats are made from beaded poly , not my first choice . I think your 2 sheets of blue foam will be better. I used 3M spray contact to put the sheets together.

I dont know the plane you are talking about , but a Clark Y airfoil is good for flying off water , a symetrical foil is more difficult .

I have used flat plate foils too .

Enough power will pull anything off the water . LOL
