If you clearcoated first, how is it that the clear didnt lift off the release agent & mold when you (presumably) masked the different colors?

What release system are you using?

I force dried the clear at 120 degrees for 20mins. I used green 3M pinstriping tape. Not the regular green masking tape. I kept the temperature up around 80+ and did my unmasking very slow. It would start to peel in spots on the flange and I would start from the other end and go slower. I am using Zyvax mold release.

Well your results do the talking! Having the clear coat down first is a great asset for polishing & finish etc.

Re heating procedure, is this a means to help with flashing first paint coat & avoid beading against the release agent, or you specifically want to cure it quicker so you can get on with layup?

Re Zyvax, which particular flavour if you dont mind me asking, water based or solvent based? They have expanded their line quite a bit since I used it. Are you finding light fog intercoats is all that required to avoid pre-paint beading, or some other technique? I loved the way it released & how fast it was to apply. I did have issues with (solvent based) doing some undesirable things to (composite based) molds - strangely the 2-stage painted plug was not affected. If your paint scheme develops any acne after about a month, you'll know what Im referring to.
